We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and customer-focused Bike Mechanic / Rental Associate to join our team. This role is a mix of bike repair, rental operations, customer service, sales, and helping maintain the overall quality of our rental fleet. Job Description As a Bike Mechanic / Rental Associate, you will work directly with customers and team members to provide a great rental and repair experience. You will help service bikes, assist with rentals, maintain the shop, support daily operations, and make sure customers leave happy and confident with their ride. This position is ideal for someone who has bike repair experience, enjoys working with people, and is comfortable in a fast-paced beach rental environment. Depending on experience, this role may be a junior mechanic position with training provided, or a mechanic/rental associate role for someone with more hands-on repair experience. Required Skills and ResponsibilitiesBike Maintenance and Repairs Diagnose and troubleshoot basic mechanical issues on bikes and e-bikes. Change and patch inner tubes for standard bikes and electric bikes. Perform basic tune-ups, including drivetrain cleaning, lubrication, brake adjustments, and gear adjustments. Adjust derailleurs and shifters for smooth gear changes. Replace and adjust brake pads, including rim brakes and disc brakes. Inspect bikes for safety before they are rented or returned to customers. Help maintain the quality and appearance of the rental fleet. E-Bike and Scooter Support Assist with basic e-bike and e-scooter maintenance. Help diagnose common issues with batteries, displays, brakes, tires, and wiring. Report more advanced electrical or mechanical issues to the lead mechanic or manager. Keep e-bikes charged, organized, and ready for rentals. Rental Associate Duties Greet customers and help them choose the right bike, e-bike, or scooter. Explain rental options, pricing, safety rules, and riding routes. Set customers up with helmets, locks, baskets, and any other rental accessories. Adjust seats and handlebars for customer comfort. Provide basic rider instructions and safety guidance before customers leave. Check bikes in and out through the rental system. Help keep the rental process smooth, organized, and professional. Sales and Customer Service Educate customers about repair options, maintenance needs, upgrades, and accessories. Recommend parts, services, and products when appropriate. Provide friendly, clear, and professional communication. Build trust with customers and help create repeat business. Handle customer questions, concerns, and basic service recommendations. Shop and Inventory Support Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace. Help manage tools, parts, rental equipment, and shop supplies. Assist with inventory counts and notifying managers when parts are running low. Keep bikes, e-bikes, scooters, and accessories organized. Support the team with daily shop tasks as needed. Preferred Qualifications Previous bike mechanic experience preferred. Experience with e-bikes or scooters is a plus. Customer service or sales experience is a plus. Ability to work outdoors and in a fast-paced beach environment. Comfortable lifting, moving, and organizing bikes and e-bikes. Reliable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a team.
