Hardware Sales

Dixie Supply is Starting to Staff our New Saraland Location! All new hires for Saraland will train at our Eight Mile location for several weeks before our grand opening. We are seeking a knowledgeable, energetic Part-Time Sales Associate to join our full-service hardware team. This position is the face of our store, providing expert, friendly service to DIY homeowners and contractors. While focusing on general hardware sales, the ideal candidate has strong construction experience to help our customers with project solutions and assist in our metal roofing material sales.

Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales:

Greet customers, provide expert advice on hardware, tools, plumbing, electrical, and paint, and assist in selecting the right materials for projects.

Metal Roofing Focus:

Assist customers with calculating, selecting, and ordering metal roofing panels, trim, and fasteners.

Cash Handling & POS:

Accurately process sales transactions, returns, and exchanges using our computer inventory system and cash register.

Inventory Management:

Receive, check in, and stock inventory. Use handheld RF scanners to maintain accurate inventory levels, conduct cycle counts, and report low stock to management.

Store Maintenance:

Keep aisles clean, organized, and properly merchandised. Assist with setting up displays and seasonal resets.

Loading Assistance:

Assist customers with loading heavy or bulky items, such as metal roofing sheets, into their vehicles. Qualifications & Requirements Construction Knowledge (Important): Previous experience in construction, roofing, or contracting is highly preferred, enabling you to guide customers on product usage.

Retail/Cashier Experience:

1-2 years of experience in retail sales, preferably in a hardware or lumber setting.

Computer Skills:

Comfort with learning and operating a Computerized Inventory System/POS.

Physical Ability:

Ability to lift 10-50 lbs. regularly, stand for long periods, and work in varied temperatures.

Communication:

Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with local contractors and homeowners.
