Job Description:
Wastequip WRX is seeking a Lead Service Technician to support our Jurupa Valley operation. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality field service while also leading and guiding the service team within the shop when not in the field. The Lead Service Technician serves as a working leader, supporting the Service Manager by driving daily execution, technician productivity, and a strong customer experience.

- 39 hrly Key Responsibilities Field Service Execution Perform preventative, routine, and emergency repairs on compactors, balers, and related equipment Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems Complete work safely, on time, and to quality standards Minimize customer downtime through efficient repair execution Shop Leadership Act as the floor leader when in the service center Provide daily direction and support to technicians Help prioritize work and ensure jobs move efficiently Reinforce standards for productivity, quality, and safety Identify and escalate operational issues to the Service Manager Team Leadership & Development Train and mentor junior technicians Support onboarding and skill development Lead by example with strong work ethic and accountability Help build a high-performance, team-oriented culture Operational Performance Drive personal and team productivity Provide feedback to improve scheduling, routing, and workflow Support achievement of labor utilization and turnaround targets Escalate delays, parts issues, or capacity constraints early Safety & Compliance Promote and enforce a safety-first culture Ensure compliance with company and OSHA requirements Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas and service vehicles Customer Interaction Represent Wastequip WRX professionally at customer sites Communicate clearly on: Scope of work Repair timelines Service recommendations Support customer satisfaction and identify additional service opportunities Parts & Job Completion Communicate parts requirements accurately and proactively Help reduce downtime caused by parts availability issues Ensure jobs are completed fully and closed out properly Administrative Responsibilities Maintain accurate service records and documentation Communicate effectively with dispatch and the Service Manager Ensure work orders reflect accurate job status and completion Performance Expectations (KPIs) Quality of work and first-time fix rate Turnaround time and on-time completion Personal and team productivity Reduction in rework or callbacks Customer satisfaction Technician development and engagement Qualifications Proven experience servicing compactors, balers, or similar equipment Strong diagnostic skills in hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems Basic welding and fabrication skills Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Preferred Qualifications Experience leading or mentoring technicians OSHA 10 certification Forklift certification CPR / First Aid certification Key Skills Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving Ability to lead while actively performing technical work Effective communication and team coordination High accountability and attention to detail Work Environment & Travel Combination of field service and shop leadership responsibilities Travel throughout Southern California in a company-provided service vehicle Minimal overnight travel required
