Job Description
Overview "As Seen On TV" Store, Solvang CA. We have been in Solvang for 28 years. We also have a small snack shop with Shave Ice, Pizza, Soft Pretzels and Popcorn and more... in the same space. This is a very fun work environment. Most shifts will be 4-6 hours, weekdays and weekends. We are seeking a motivated and friendly Cashier/Clerk to join our team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for our customers, providing exceptional service while handling transactions efficiently. Your ability to engage with customers and assist them with their needs will help contribute to our store environment. A part time management position may also be available. Duties Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process customer transactions accurately. Handle cash, credit, and debit card payments while ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed. Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers warmly and addressing their inquiries or concerns. Assist with stocking shelves and maintaining inventory levels to ensure product availability. Engage in upselling techniques to promote additional products and enhance the shopping experience. Maintain cleanliness and organization at the checkout area and surrounding spaces. Perform basic math calculations to ensure accurate pricing and change is provided to customers. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods. Experience Previous experience in a retail environment, particularly in gift stores, or hardware, or housewares is preferred but not required. Strong phone etiquette skills for handling customer inquiries over the phone. Familiarity with retail math concepts to assist in accurate transaction processing. Basic understanding of sales techniques and customer engagement strategies. Experience with stock management and inventory control is a plus. Proficiency in cash handling procedures and experience using POS systems is highly desirable. Some food handling experience is a plus but not required.
