About the Role Rocky Mountain High is seeking an experienced, motivated, and customer-focused Budtender III (Lead / Trainer) to join our retail team. The Budtender III position serves as a senior cannabis retail associate who acts as a floor leader, trainer, and operational support keyholder while maintaining full sales responsibilities and compliance oversight. This role supports shift execution, onboarding, staff development, opening and closing operations, and customer experience standards under Supervisor and Store Manager direction. What You'll DoCustomer Experience & Advanced Cannabis Sales Deliver exceptional customer service in a professional and welcoming environment Provide product recommendations based on customer needs, tolerance, and desired effects Educate customers on cannabis products, terpenes, potency, dosing, and consumption methods Demonstrate strong basket-building and loyalty engagement techniques Support daily deals, vendor promotions, and in-store activations Serve as a cannabis product knowledge resource for customers and team members Floor Leadership & Training Act as floor lead during assigned shifts to support customer flow and operational execution Assist with onboarding and training new team members Provide real-time coaching on sales techniques, compliance standards, and product knowledge Support team communication and shift effectiveness during peak business periods Model professionalism, urgency, accountability, and customer service excellence Keyholder & Shift Support Support opening and closing procedures as assigned Assist with register preparation, cash balancing, and end-of-day operational tasks Maintain security and confidentiality of store access procedures and alarm systems Serve as a trusted escalation point for guest concerns and operational questions Escalate safety, compliance, or operational concerns to management immediately Guest Identification & Compliance Verify valid government-issued identification for every guest Ensure all customers are 21 years of age or older prior to cannabis-related interaction Follow all Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) regulations and company SOPs Adhere to purchase limits, product handling requirements, and refusal-of-service protocols Maintain an active MED Occupational License at all times POS Transactions & Cash Handling Accurately process transactions using the cannabis point-of-sale system Ensure all products are scanned, weighed, and sold in compliance with MED regulations Handle cash accurately and balance drawers at the end of each shift Correctly apply discounts, promotions, and loyalty rewards according to company policy Verify transactions prior to releasing product to customers Operations & Inventory Support Support inventory counts, FIFO rotation, and compliance spot checks Assist with inventory organization, restocking, and discrepancy identification Support online order fulfillment and product accuracy checks Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards Monitor floor activity and identify potential compliance risks Professional Expectations Demonstrate leadership while remaining actively guest-facing Maintain strong attendance, reliability, and communication Support store goals and team development initiatives Accept coaching and provide constructive support to fellow team members Lead by example through compliance integrity and operational excellence Experience & Qualifications Must be 21+ years of age Minimum 1 year of cannabis retail experience preferred Prior leadership, training, mentorship, or keyholder experience preferred Strong cannabis product knowledge and compliance history Ability to independently support opening and closing procedures Active Colorado MED Occupational License required Strong communication skills and attention to detail Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs
