Job Details Full-time 178 Chapel St, New Haven, CT 06513 Job Description Hiring a Shop Floor Lead to oversee our Welding and Sew Room departments. We're looking for someone with deep hands-on experience in every function of an awning company—someone who knows what it takes to get the job done right and can lead by example. This is a leadership role on the shop floor that involves quality control, technical direction, and daily team support. The ideal candidate is patient, confident, and capable of explaining shop drawings and specifications clearly to team members. You'll also be responsible for providing revisions with sign-offs and ensuring accountability for what's going out to the shop floor. You should be comfortable being hands-on when needed and committed to producing top-quality work. Key Responsibilities (included but not limited to): Lead and oversee the daily operations of the welding and sew departments Read, explain, and distribute accurate shop drawings to team members Provide revised drawings or instructions as needed and track sign-offs for accountability Ensure jobs are fabricated exactly to spec and meet all quality standards Perform and oversee all quality control before jobs leave the shop Support and train staff with clear direction, patience, and professionalism Collaborate with project and production managers to align priorities Keep the shop floor organized, productive, and on schedule Jump in hands-on when needed to solve issues or meet deadlines Maintain safety and cleanliness standards across the workspace Requirements Many years of hands-on experience in welding, sewing, fabrication, and awning construction Strong knowledge of awning systems, materials, and production methods Ability to read and communicate technical shop drawings and specs Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Highly organized, reliable, and focused on accountability and quality Comfortable managing revisions and documentation for internal tracking Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus Compensation Pay based on experience Full-time role with potential for advancement
