General Statement of Job:
Provides friendly and efficient customer service while supporting the daily operations of the golf course pro shop. Assists golfers and visitors with purchases, reservations, and general information, while performing clerical and administrative tasks to help keep the pro shop organized and running smoothly. Works collaboratively with staff and interacts regularly with the public to ensure a positive experience for all guests. Work is performed under regular supervision. Essential Functions Greets golfers and visitors in a friendly, professional manner and provides helpful information about the golf course, pro shop merchandise, tee times, and facility services. Assists customers with scheduling tee times, checking in for play, and answering questions to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. Processes retail sales, rentals, and other transactions accurately while providing courteous service to all guests. Communicates clearly with golfers regarding course policies, daily schedules, special events, and course conditions. Supports the pro shop team by maintaining organized records, updating reservations, and completing routine clerical tasks. Works cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers to ensure efficient daily operations and a welcoming environment. Helps maintain the appearance and organization of the pro shop, including arranging merchandise, restocking items, and monitoring inventory levels. Responds to customer concerns or requests in a respectful and timely manner, seeking guidance from supervisors when needed. Shares relevant information with team members to support coordinated service and positive guest experiences. Promotes a positive, customer-focused atmosphere that reflects the golf course's commitment to quality service. Coordinates player groups to maximize tee sheet efficiency while maintaining an enjoyable experience. Explains course guidelines, pace-of-play expectations, and facility amenities so players understand how to enjoy the course responsibly. Directs players to tees at appropriate times and monitors flow of play to maintain proper spacing. Provides on-course assistance, resolves minor issues, and helps golfers navigate challenges during play. Encourages proper golf etiquette and course care, including repairing ball marks, replacing divots, and observing course rules. Assists in setting up and promoting special events, tournaments, or golf clinics. Answers phones and responds to emails or online inquiries, providing accurate and courteous information. Provides basic assistance with golf equipment rentals and explains proper use to customers. Assists new or visiting golfers in understanding course layout, rules, and safety guidelines. Participates in training or staff meetings to stay informed about promotions, policies, and procedures. Provides occasional guidance or support to junior staff, interns, or volunteers. Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge of:
Basic customer service principles and best practices to create a welcoming experience for all guests Golf course operations, merchandise, and basic rules of golf to provide accurate guidance to customers Clerical and administrative functions, including handling reservations, processing sales, and maintaining records Point-of-sale (POS) systems, cash handling procedures, and inventory management Safety procedures and operational policies in recreational or retail settings Skilled in: Interpersonal and communication techniques to interact effectively with golfers, visitors, and team members Operating computers, POS systems, phones, and other standard office equipment accurately Delivering customer service with friendliness, patience, and problem-solving Organizing work areas, managing reservations, and tracking inventory Managing time and balancing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Responding calmly and courteously to guest inquiries or concerns Ability to: Greet, assist, and provide clear information to guests in a friendly and professional manner Work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers in a team-focused environment Respond appropriately to customer concerns or requests and escalate issues when necessary Maintain accuracy and attention to detail while performing clerical, cash handling, and administrative tasks Adapt to changing situations, including special events or peak activity periods, while maintaining quality service Handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a professional demeanor during busy periods Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in customer service, retail, or hospitality, preferably in a golf course, recreational, or sports environment. Familiarity with golf terminology, equipment, and course operations to assist guests effectively. Experience using point-of-sale (POS) systems, reservation software, and basic office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office or Google Workspace). Experience in organizing and maintaining merchandise displays or inventory in a retail setting.

Continuously working in a normal office environment with few physical discomforts. Occasionally working in an outdoor area where exposure to animals, reptiles and/or insects may occur. Continuously maintaining regular onsite attendance Essential Employee Designation When normal operations of City departments are suspended or interrupted due to a declaration that a state of emergency exists, any employee may be deemed essential by the City. For the preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail, employees deemed necessary shall be required to work.
