Job Description
The Animal League, a private, no-kill rescue based in Groveland, is looking for fresh faces to staff our upscale thrift store in historic downtown Clermont! The proceeds from the shop go directly to the rescue and rehabilitation of the animals we take in.
Job Summary:
This position includes assisting customers with purchasing merchandise while providing excellent customer service to our guests. Processing and stocking donated merchandise as instructed, creating attractive displays and keeping the shop clean and neat.Duties/Responsibilities:
- Greets and interacts with customers.
- Consults with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise.
- Answers customer's questions about merchandise.
- Assist customers with purchase decisions.
- Collects payment using the store point of sale system.
- Processes returns/exchanges according to store policy.
- Process/price new donations.
- Restock sales floor with merchandise as needed
- Assist wherever needed in the store
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Train new volunteers to assist in the shop
- Cleaning which may include but not limited to sweeping, moping, dusting, and vacuuming.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to be flexible in an ever-changing environment

Thrift Store Manager Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Basic use of computer
- Minimum 1 year of retail/customer service experience
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work on feet up to 10+ hour shifts
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to repeatedly bend, squat, stretch, lift
Work Environment:
- Job is physically demanding and requires stamina and attention to detail
- Our store is open Wednesday-Sunday and closed on Monday/Tuesday.
- Punctuality and good attendance are required
- Work hours may vary and may include early morning or late evening/overnight shifts and weekends
- Job will require interactions with the public, sometimes in emotionally charged situations
- We do not tolerate negativity or drama.
