Job Description

OPTICAL SALES ASSOCIATE
Our company is seeking a dedicated Optical Sales Associate to join our team, someone who will help care for our patients and their eye care needs. An Optical Associate guides customers in choosing eyewear, assists with frame and lens selection based on their prescription and preferences, handles sales transactions, and provides customer service, including basic adjustments and repairs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Always respect the patient's time and the doctor's schedule. Answer phones (internal and external) and ensure prompt, courteous service at all times. Check out patients and collect correct payments. Comply with all company policies and procedures, including HIPAA Double-check insurance authorizations to ensure correct billing and discounts. Ensuring a clean and inviting shopping environment and assisting with merchandising displays. General office duties and cleaning to be assigned by the manager. Greeting customers, understanding their needs, and helping them select appropriate frames and lenses that suit their vision, style, and budget. Instructing customers on how to properly care for their new eyewear and how to use contact lenses. Keeping the sales floor organized and stocked and maintaining inventory records. Knowledge of lenses and lab fees. Knowledge of standard fees charged for visits and materials. Maintain a professional attitude, greet patients promptly with a smile, and thank them when they leave. Process insurance claims and manage work orders and customer records. Processing sales, collecting payments, and explaining product options, features, and coatings. Provide outstanding customer service in every patient interaction, whether in person or by phone. Staying informed about new technologies, lens options, and frame styles to provide expert advice to customers. Taking measurements for proper fit, performing minor frame adjustments, and assisting with basic repairs. When needed, schedule appointments, authorize insurance coverage, and retrieve patient paperwork.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Has the ability to clearly explain product features and care instructions to diverse customers. Has an eye for fashion and style, helping customers choose flattering frames. Demonstrates knowledge and the ability to handle eyewear adjustments and basic repairs accurately. Reliable transportation that enables employees to arrive at work on time. Desire to acquire industry knowledge and training. Demonstrates initiative in achieving practice goals. Consistently promotes a positive work environment by being team-oriented and patient-focused. Able to interact courteously and professionally with all levels of employees. Must be at least 18 years old.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A
high school diploma or a General Educational Development (GED) is required. Three to six months of medical office experience is required. Six months of optometry experience is preferred. Strong sales background. Insurance and billing experience is a plus. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret information.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work well in a team environment. Flexible schedule to meet patient and clinical operations demands. Excellent written and oral communication skills; computer literate. Basic computer knowledge; Microsoft Office skills helpful.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to transition from a sitting to a standing position at any time during the eight-hour workday. The employee must also be able to perform any other physical tasks that may arise.
