Job Summary Thrift Store Clerk supports daily operations in a resale environment by assisting customers, organizing donated goods, and maintaining an inviting and well-stocked store. This role emphasizes customer service, merchandising unique items, and supporting the stores mission of supporting affordable housing. Key Responsibilities Greet customers and provide helpful service Assist shoppers in locating items and making purchase decisions Sort, price, and tag donated merchandise (clothing, household items, etc.) Operate cash register and process sales, returns, and donations Maintain neat, organized, and visually appealing displays Restock shelves and rotate inventory regularly Help process incoming donations and ensure quality standards Keep the store clean, including fitting rooms and sales floor Promote store sales, discounts, and special promotions Support the stores mission and communicate it to customers when appropriate Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Previous retail, resale, or customer service experience is ( a plus) Comfortable handling secondhand goods and donations Basic math and cash-handling skills Communication and organizational skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Team-oriented mindset Physical Requirements Ability to stand for long periods Lift and move donations (up to 30-50 lbs) ( daily) Frequent bending, sorting, and reaching Work Environment Frequent customer interaction May include weekends, evenings, and holidays Exposure to a wide variety of donated goods Preferred Skills Eye for merchandising and display Knowledge of vintage or secondhand items (a plus) Customer service and interpersonal skills Time management and attention to detail
