  • Full-time Overview Affiliated Auctions is a local, family owned auction house with a global presence.
We pride ourselves in accurate descriptions and research that results in the best value for our consignors and bidders. We process nearly 2000 lots per month, making up our 2-3 monthly auctions. We specialize in coins, militaria of all types, jewelry, firearms, ammunition, art and other collectibles. A cataloguer will be expected to cross train in various areas of the auction process as well as work with customers in store. Affiliated Auctions is a fully operational Federal Firearms Licensee, also handling NFA items. Applicants mustn't have any felony convictions and should be at least 21 or have parental approval to handle firearms. Duties Develop comprehensive catalogs for auction lots by researching provenance, condition reports, and historical context Well versed in technology and able to navigate our database 'AuctionFlex', as well as our online bidding platforms Collaborate with curators, appraisers, and other team members to ensure accurate descriptions and classifications Accurately manage inventory throughout the catalog process Work with customers over the counter to buy gold and appraise various items. Learn to safely handle firearms and correctly navigate transfer paperwork Complete firearms forms as required by law to transfer weapons to other FFLs or individuals. Occasional travel to acquire items for auction Share minimal cleaning duties throughout the office Cross train in other areas of the business Participate in the auction proceedings Fill out contracts with consignors Communicate over the phone and in person with bidders and consignors Taking payments after the auction Experience Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Familiarity with databases and using online resources for research Excellent research skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy Demonstrated ability to write compelling descriptions with proper grammar. A passion for history or antiques is helpful but not required Our team is looking for another member to share the responsibility and privilege of handling historic artifacts.
