Gold and Coin Exchange is seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Precious Metals Trader and/or Numismatist to join our team. This role involves assisting customers at the counter with buying and selling precious metals and collectible currency, evaluating items for authenticity and value, and delivering a professional, trustworthy experience. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for the precious metals and numismatic markets.

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate, test, and verify gold, silver, and other precious metals for authenticity and purity Accurately assess the value of scrap metals, bullion, and numismatic items Buy and sell coins, currency, and precious metals directly with customers Provide knowledgeable guidance on U.S. coins, currency, and market trends Deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail environment Maintain accurate transaction records and inventory tracking Operate point-of-sale systems and basic office software efficiently Stay up to date with precious metals pricing and numismatic market conditions Ensure compliance with company policies, security procedures, and regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalent Ability to pass a background check and drug screening (including randomized testing after hire) Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills Basic to advanced knowledge of U.S. coins and currency Ability to verify gold and silver content in scrap and submitted metals Experience with Microsoft Office or similar office applications Prior experience in B2C (business-to-consumer) sales

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in a coin shop, pawn shop, jewelry store, or precious metals trading environment Familiarity with testing equipment (e.g., XRF analyzers, acid testing kits, scales) Understanding of bullion markets and pricing strategies Knowledge of rare coins, grading standards, and numismatic valuation Strong attention to detail and accuracy in high-value transactions

Work Environment:

Retail storefront setting with frequent customer interaction Fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail and professionalism On-site, full-time position (no remote work)
