About Plainfield Correctional Facility:
Plainfield Correctional Facility is a medium‑security institution located in Plainfield, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 1,600 incarcerated adult males. The facility provides mental health and substance use treatment services, along with multiple educational opportunities. Programming focuses on rehabilitation and preparing incarcerated individuals for re‑entry. Staff work to create a supportive environment that encourages accountability and personal improvement. The dormitory‑style housing promotes structure and routine. Incarcerated individuals are given opportunities to develop skills and confidence to aid in reintegration. Role Overview:
 As a Stores Clerk at the Plainfield Correctional Facility, you will perform a wide variety of tasks in the overall operation of the commissary which involves stocking, disbursing, and controlling goods and supplies for incarcerated individuals. This includes transporting supplies from the warehouse to the commissary and supervising incarcerated individuals in assisting with these tasks. 
Salary Statement:
 The salary for this position traditionally starts at $29,588.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in the
Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows: Authorize the accuracy of all orders received in the storeroom and authorize all goods received.

Contact vendors regarding partial shipments and/or misorders.

Maintained detailed inventory records and records of items ordered.

Evaluate and recognize record-keeping or storage procedures as necessary.

Ensure proper storage procedures and rotation of stock for perishable items.

Make recommendations on purchase of new equipment for warehouse and maintenance required in building.

Oversee and assembles equipment received in "knocked down" condition.

May ensure the security of incarcerated individuals staff assigned to the warehouse.

Success:
Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

Thorough knowledge of requisitioning and disbursing procedures, consumption rates of stored items and inventory control procedures.

Thorough knowledge of stock items, their locations and the proper methods of storing a variety of goods and supplies based upon efficient space utilization and a variety of state and federal regulations.

Effective communication skills. Practical knowledge of state regulations in handling and storing foodstuffs and perishables.

Ability to train inmates and staff in proper operation of all equipment and proper methods of storage.

Ability to maintain detailed, accurate inventory and purchasing records.

Ability to operate forklift, hand-truck and other mechanical equipment in warehouse.

A degree is not required. However, experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered. Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
