Job Description

As Engagement Assistant CNA the following will be a part of the job. Engagement in our homes is extremely important to the quality of life we create for our Residents and families. This role is essential to the overall way we also provide exceptional care to families and the community. Quality Engagement promotes dignity, psycho/social/emotional/spiritual/physical wellness and a re-enforcing the essence of caring for someone in a real home environment. The Engagement Assistant is a cheerleader, a supportive listener, and a go-getter. The key responsibility of the Engagement Assistant is to work with Director of Engagement and/or Volunteer Coordinator to develop and implement a schedule of daily programs and events designed to promote the appropriate level of activity and stimulation for our various Residents and their families. The Engagement Assistant is expected to facilitate directly with the Residents and their families, providing guidance and extra help when needed to be engaged in programs. This encouragement is both helping the Resident to see the value of the program as well as adapting the program as needed for the functioning level of the Resident. The Engagement Assistant will communicate with the Director of Engagement / Director of Operations and Resident Care regarding the schedule of activities and any special help or needs on a monthly basis. The desired effect of the job is geared to the overall enjoyment of the Resident experience, a willingness to engage CareGivers and help coach them on the importance of programs and activities. This occurs in creating events, conversation, and fun from everyday life to "hallmark days" to major holiday celebrations, helping capture moments of joy and celebrate those for our community and company.
Job Functions/Expectations:
Assist in the creation and coordination of monthly calendar of events for all communities through brainstorming, research of ideas and opportunities in the community and with volunteers. Coordinate ideas and schedules with other Engagement Assistants, Home Supervisors and Caregivers, as needed. Engage with Residents in the 11-7 pm position and help in home with care as needed Responsible for assisting in the collection of initial social history and the maintenance of important information about the Resident's life history, likes and preferences to be documented and available to all care staff. Assist administrative and nursing staff in compliance with all local, state and federal laws regarding facility (homes) certification and compliance. Maintain standards in clinical documentation as defined by company. Understand, honor, and implement policies and procedures that affect operations and Resident care services. Provide input to Director of Engagement / Director of Operations and Resident Care to assist in review, revision and/or creation of Life Enrichment Program policies and procedures. Stay informed about changes in the field of Engagement coordination / Life Enrichment to ensure quality programing that is also in compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations. Must obtain and maintain proper vehicle insurance for commuting during work hours. Occasionally work with caregivers to assist with ADL's as needed when available to do so. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, including but not limited to: Lifting and management of supplies, groceries and other inventories that need to be collected, checked in, and stocked. Must be willing to learn, apply and model safe practices in the care of Resident to prevent accidents or injury of self and Resident care staff. Must be able to safely lift at least 25 lbs. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Engagement or other Leadership. Will assist Director and other Assistants in supply shopping and instructions/examples for programming. Will help to be an advocate for the team with our families, vendors, other teams, and in the community. Not Permitted All personal conversations must be kept to a minimum. Engaging in discussions or arguments with Caregivers while in the presence of Residents or Residents Families. All issues should be resolved privately away from Residents. Any issues regarding care of Residents need to be communicated to Nursing Staff and the Director of Engagement. Excessive call-ins without proper documentation from doctor.
