Position Summary The Saw Team Member plays a crucial role in supporting the saw operation by unloading, stacking, and wrapping cut materials, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and following all safety protocols. This position requires strong teamwork, attention to detail, and adherence to standard operating procedures to ensure the efficient movement of materials. Responsibilities
  • Material Handling & Stacking Safely unload cut parts from the saw, stacking them on according to specifications. Securely package finished goods as required. Ensure all teammates handling material are ready before moving parts. Coordinate the transfer of material to downstream operations with the assistance of a forklift driver.
  • Saw Operation Assistance Support the operation of Saw by ensuring smooth workflow at the outfeed. Monitor material flow and adjust stacking processes to prevent bottlenecks. Operate a miter saw to cut stringers and slats to the correct size. Use a nail gun to secure stringers when additional support is required.
  • Safety & Compliance Wear all required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety-toe shoes. Follow Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures before cleaning or maintaining the saw. Keep body parts clear of the dust curtain, conveyor areas, and saw blade zones. Familiarize yourself with machine emergency stops.
  • Workplace Organization & Cleaning Regularly sweep floors and clear debris from the saw area.
Properly dispose of scrap and trash using the scrap hopper. Remove and organize unused stringers in the designated storage area. Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to promote safety and efficiency. Personal Attributes and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong commitment to workplace safety. Ability to read and follow written instructions. Legible handwriting for record-keeping. Proficiency in using a tape measure. Willingness to learn and operate tools such as a table saw, radial arm saw, and nail gun. Capability to lift and handle heavy loads. Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing schedules. Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement. Physical ability to lift, carry, and stack heavy materials. Basic mechanical understanding of saw operation. Willingness to cross-train and support other departments or operations based on business needs. Demonstrated interest in learning new skills and progressing into additional roles or advancement opportunities within the company. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently interacts with individuals on the plant floor, near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the production environment is usually loud. Manufacturing environment with exposure to coatings, wood dust, noise, and moving equipment. Requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by operational needs.
