Cashier/Sales Associate

Job Overview We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier/Sales Associate to join our retail team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, managing transactions accurately, and assisting customers with their shopping experience. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, basic math proficiency, and experience in retail sales or grocery store environments. Although we will train the right candidate. This position offers an opportunity to develop sales skills, merchandising expertise, and product knowledge in a fast-paced retail setting. This is a hardware store environment with a fishing, home goods, home decor, gift shop area and is one of the largest retail stores in Provincetown, in operation since the 1940's. Responsibilities Operate POS systems efficiently (Paladin Point of Sale) to process transactions accurately and quickly Greet customers warmly and assist with product inquiries Handle cash, credit, and other payment methods with precision and security Maintain an organized checkout area and ensure proper stock levels at registers Assist with merchandising tasks such as stocking shelves and arranging displays Provide exceptional customer service by addressing questions and resolving issues promptly Follow phone etiquette standards when communicating with customers over the phone Support inventory management through stock checks and product replenishment Supervise or assist in supervising team members when needed, ensuring smooth store operations Skills Proficiency/Ability to become proficient with POS systems and cash handling procedures Strong customer service skills with excellent communication abilities Basic math skills for handling transactions and retail math calculations Experience in retail sales, or merchandising preferred Phone etiquette skills for professional customer interactions Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail

NOTE:

While some of the qualifications are "requirements," please know this would be the ideal and experienced candidate. We are willing to train the right person for this position and there is room to grow in our company. This position is seasonal, full time... starting date approximately May 1, ending date approximately October 15th.

Hours:

8a-5pm, 5 days a week (hour for lunch). Indoor, Air Conditioned Setting.

Pay:

From $18.00 per hour
