Retail Sales Associate

Job Description Join our small team in Sturbridge, MA! The Painted Stone Emporium is a small shop that offers an array of houseplants, natural crystals, locally made items and more. We are in search of a highly dependable team member with a flexible weekend schedule. Requirements are Saturday and Sunday availability, with most weekends only requiring one of these days, but in some cases both days. A set schedule would be given to you immediately upon hire and can be discussed during the interview process. We are additionally looking for someone who is able to work during the Woodstock Fair. This might be covering at the shop, working at the fair, or both. Additional flexibility is a huge plus!

We need someone that is:

~ Highly dependable. You will be working by yourself most days. Our team is very small, and all have other work obligations that do not allow for schedule changes. ~ Honest. We have a zero tolerance policy for theft, and the store is monitored. ~ Customer oriented. Someone who is kind, friendly, greets customers and assists them with what they're in search of. ~ Kind. Kindness is a value we apply towards our customers, co-workers and vendors. ~ Proactive. This means doing things without being asked. This could be anything from cleaning a dusty shelf to noticing issues that might need improvement. We value your effort, input and ideas. ~ Punctual. The opening process typically takes 15 minutes, so arriving to the store 15 minutes before open is required.

~ Plant knowledge, crystal knowledge, creativity, customer service experience.

Duties:

~ Opening and closing the store. This includes but is not limited to: -Turning on/off a multitude of lights. This will require bending to reach low outlets and standing on a small step stool to reach high ones. -Opening and closing the cash register and the Square POS system. ~ Using the Square POS system for conducting sales transactions and entering/tracking inventory. ~ Greeting, interacting with and assisting customers to ensure they have a positive experience and can find what they're in search of. ~ Cleaning, including but not limited to, sweeping, dusting, cleaning surfaces and trash removal daily. ~ Plant care, including watering, spraying with non-toxic solutions, removing dead/dying leaves, and more. ~ Counting, entering, packaging, pricing and putting out inventory. ~ Shoveling/salting the walkway as needed during the winter. ~ There may be other tasks to complete as they arise.
