Job Title:
Material Handler Job Description This role focuses on receiving, organizing, and stocking orders in a warehouse environment, ensuring that air filters and related materials are accurately placed in designated storage areas for technicians and walk-in customers. You will follow written pick instructions, move materials primarily with a pallet jack, and provide courteous customer service at a service desk in a relaxed, team-oriented setting. Responsibilities Receive incoming orders in the warehouse and verify that materials match written pick instructions and product codes. Stock air filters and related parts in the correct storage locations, ensuring accuracy and organization for technicians. Move materials safely and efficiently around the warehouse using a pallet jack and other basic material handling equipment. Follow written pick instructions to select and prepare parts for technicians and customer orders without relying on an SAP system. Maintain strong attention to detail to ensure parts go into the proper storage area and that product codes are followed correctly. Collaborate closely with a small team of three to four colleagues, supporting one another to complete daily tasks and meet operational needs. Assist walk-in customers at the service desk by stopping warehouse tasks when needed, locating the correct parts, and providing helpful, courteous service. Perform picking, packing, and order preparation tasks as needed to support shipping and inventory workflows. Use RF scanners and basic computer systems to support inventory, order picking, and shipping processes as required. Support general inventory control activities, including organizing shelves, restocking items, and helping maintain a clean and orderly warehouse. Adapt to changing priorities in a laid-back environment while maintaining a strong work ethic and commitment to accuracy. Essential Skills Proven material handling experience in a warehouse or similar environment. Hands-on experience with picking and packing orders. Customer service experience, including interacting with walk-in customers and assisting at a service desk. Ability to use a pallet jack safely and effectively for moving materials. Experience with RF scanners for picking, packing, or inventory tasks. Comfort working with basic computer systems to support warehouse and inventory activities. Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate stocking, picking, and adherence to product codes. Ability to work effectively as part of a small team and support coworkers in daily operations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in customer service, preferably in a warehouse, retail, or parts environment. Experience with order picking, packing, inventory, and shipping processes. Familiarity with sit-down forklift operations, even though this role does not require regular forklift use. Comfort working in a laid-back environment with minimal computer work and no SAP system in place. Willingness to learn new processes and grow with the team as the operation expands. Ability to balance warehouse tasks with customer-facing responsibilities at a service desk. Why Work Here? Hours are typically 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing a consistent daytime schedule. The role primarily uses pallet jacks and RF scanners, with no current use of an SAP system and no regular forklift operation required. No personal protective equipment is required for this position, contributing to a comfortable and approachable work setting focused on safety, organization, and customer service. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilmington, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
