OUTDOOR SALES ASSOCIATE

The Outdoor Sales Associate is a customer service position in the outdoor retail sales area Outdoor Sales Associates have a strong desire to assist customers in fulfilling their garden and landscaping goals. They enjoy helping customers and each other succeed, are confident and approachable, good at keeping busy, and thrive in a team environment. The position requires experience and knowledge of horticultural plants, including trees, shrubs and perennials that thrive in Zones 3-5 in Maine. Internship credits possible for qualified students.

JOB DUTIES

• Helping customers with friendliness and respect
• Promoting and selling nursery plant material and tie-in items, i.e. fertilizers, chemicals, composts
• Pruning, trimming, weeding, and watering of displays and nursery plant material
• Assisting customers with simple garden designs and plant selections
• Unloading loading, stocking, pricing, and tagging nursery plant material and bagged goods
• Keeping tools clean and in their proper place
• Picking up after yourself and others in the outside sales area and indoor co-worker areas
• Complete paperwork, such as sales orders, time cards etc.
• Follow all safety regulations and policies
• Other duties as required

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Good knowledge of Zone 3-5 plant material including health, quality issues, disease and pests
• Associate degree in Horticulture or equivalent education and/or experience
• Experience in a retail nursery or greenhouse, landscaping or other horticultural setting
• Experience operating nursery equipment including golf carts, tractor loaders, is a plus
• Ability to work outdoors, usually standing, in all types of weather conditions,temperatures
• Ability to bend and lift 20-40 pounds consistently throughout each day
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
• Commitment to represent O'Donal's in a courteous and professional manner at all times
• Willingness to work long hours, including weekend, when needed
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple tasks
• All O'Donal's associates are not limited to the specific job duties of above mentioned job description, associates are also expected to perform other appropriate duties as assigned by management in a team environment setting

Pay:

$17.00 - $19.00 per hour
