Retail Customer Service Professional Maine Alpaca Experience is a one-of-a-kind retail destination located in beautiful Northport, Maine. We specialize in premium alpaca apparel, accessories, gifts, and fiber products sourced from some of the finest alpaca farms and artisans. As part of our mission, we educate visitors about the remarkable qualities of alpaca fiber and the sustainable farming practices behind it. Our shop welcomes thousands of visitors each year who are looking for unique products, authentic experiences, and a connection to Maine's alpaca industry. Position Overview We are seeking a friendly, dependable, and enthusiastic Retail Sales Associate to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in creating exceptional customer experiences, and appreciates quality natural-fiber products. As a member of our team, you will help customers discover the comfort, warmth, and beauty of alpaca products while contributing to the welcoming atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the Maine Alpaca Experience. Responsibilities Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional manner. Provide outstanding customer service by answering questions and sharing information about alpaca products and fiber. Accurately process sales transactions using our point-of-sale system. Maintain attractive, organized, and fully stocked product displays. Monitor inventory levels and assist with restocking merchandise. Assist with merchandising and seasonal display changes. Support marketing efforts through in-store promotions, signage creation, and social media content. Help prepare for special events, sales promotions, and customer appreciation activities. Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting retail environment. Qualifications Previous retail sales experience required; experience in apparel, gift shops, artisan goods, or specialty retail is preferred. Strong communication and customer service skills. Positive attitude and ability to engage comfortably with visitors from diverse backgrounds. Attention to detail and an eye for visual merchandising and store presentation. Comfortable using technology, including point-of-sale systems and social media platforms. Dependable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently. Interest in natural fibers, fiber arts, knitting, crochet, weaving, or sustainable products is a plus. Willingness to occasionally work at our second location in Unity, Maine. Must be at least 18 years of age. Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly wage based on experience. Employee discount on alpaca products.
