Job Description
Team Lead (Barista & Expo) At Colby's Cafe & Brew, we believe in warm hospitality, exceptional quality, and creating a welcoming space for our community to gather. We're looking for a friendly, dependable Team Lead who is passionate about coffee, food, hospitality, and helping a team succeed. As a Team Lead, you'll serve as both a Barista and Expo Lead , helping ensure every guest receives an outstanding experience and every shift runs smoothly. You'll lead by example, support and coach team members, coordinate communication between the front and back of house, and help maintain our high standards for quality, hospitality, and efficiency. What You'll Do Lead by example by delivering exceptional hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences. Greet every guest with warmth, professionalism, and a smile. Serve as the primary Expo during busy periods, ensuring food and drinks are accurate, complete, and delivered promptly. Coordinate communication between kitchen and front-of-house teams to maintain smooth service flow. Support barista operations by preparing and serving high-quality coffee, tea, specialty beverages, and food items. Assist with shift execution, helping prioritize tasks and keeping team members focused during peak periods. Coach, support, and encourage team members while fostering a positive, team-oriented culture. Help train new team members on service standards, procedures, and hospitality expectations. Monitor cleanliness, organization, and stocking levels throughout the café. Resolve guest concerns professionally and escalate issues to management when appropriate. Assist with inventory, product rotation, and maintaining attractive displays. Follow food safety and sanitation standards while helping maintain a safe and welcoming environment. Support managers with operational needs and help ensure company policies and standards are consistently followed. Who You Are You have a positive attitude and naturally lead through service, accountability, and teamwork. You enjoy helping others succeed and creating a strong team environment. You communicate clearly and confidently with guests and team members. You stay calm, organized, and focused in a fast-paced environment. You are dependable, punctual, and able to take ownership of your responsibilities. You have previous experience in food service, coffee shops, restaurants, or hospitality (leadership experience preferred). You are comfortable giving direction and solving problems in the moment. You are available during peak business times, including mornings, weekends, and holidays. You are comfortable standing for extended periods and can bend, lift, and move throughout your shift.
