$17.00/hour Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Cannabis Budtender to support retail operations in a licensed Minnesota cannabis facility. This role is responsible for delivering compliant sales, accurate product education, and adherence to all Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) regulations. This position supports both hemp-derived THC sales (current market) and will transition into adult-use cannabis retail upon licensure. The ideal candidate understands the importance of regulatory compliance, customer safety, and controlled substance handling. Key Responsibilities Provide compliant, professional customer service in accordance with Minnesota cannabis regulations Verify age (21+) and valid identification for all customers prior to entry and/or sale Educate customers on product types, cannabinoid content, and labeled effects without making medical claims Ensure all transactions comply with purchase limits, product restrictions, and OCM rules Operate POS system accurately, including cash handling and daily reconciliation Maintain strict adherence to inventory tracking systems (e.g., METRC or state-required system) Assist with inventory counts, receiving, and restocking in compliance with tracking requirements Ensure all products are properly packaged, labeled, and stored per OCM guidelines Maintain retail floor organization, cleanliness, and security awareness Immediately report discrepancies, compliance concerns, or security issues to management Follow all SOPs related to diversion prevention, loss prevention, and product security Duties & Expectations Maintain strict compliance with all OCM regulations, company SOPs, and audit standards Demonstrate strong attention to detail in all transactions and inventory handling Deliver consistent, professional, and non-promissory customer interactions Maintain confidentiality of customer and business information Support audit readiness at all times (documentation, logs, inventory accuracy) Adapt to evolving regulatory requirements as Minnesota transitions to adult-use Remain professional under regulatory scrutiny and inspection conditions Be flexible with scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Minimum Requirements Must be 21 years of age or older Must be able to pass all required Minnesota cannabis background checks (OCM compliance) Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive retail tasks Ability to lift, push, carry, and/or pull up to 30 lbs Basic math and cash handling competency Strong reliability and adherence to compliance-driven environments Preferred Qualifications Experience in cannabis retail, hemp-derived THC sales, or regulated retail environments Familiarity with Minnesota Statute 151.72 (hemp-derived THC) and/or adult-use cannabis rules Experience with seed-to-sale tracking systems (e.g., METRC) Strong communication and customer education skills Ability to remain composed and compliant in a highly regulated setting Work Environment Highly regulated cannabis retail environment subject to state inspection and audit Direct interaction with customers in a controlled sales setting Continuous exposure to cannabis and hemp-derived THC products Strict adherence to security, surveillance, and compliance protocols required Benefits Health, dental and vision insurance benefits (if eligible) Paid time off Paid Holidays Employee discounts and samples Equal Opportunity Employer Statement We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
