Lumberyard Associate/Retail Sales Associate

Job Summary Sutherland Lumber Company is a privately held company with a very successful history. Established prior to 1920, the company owns and operates retail home improvement stores and other businesses in the Midwest. Sutherland's is currently looking to fill Lumberyard Associates and Retail Sales Associates at our retail store in Maryville, Missouri. We are looking for part time and full time positions. In this role, you will serve as a vital point of contact for customers, assisting with product selection, providing product advice, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong customer service orientation, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment. This position offers an opportunity to develop sales expertise while supporting our commitment to quality service and product knowledge. Candidates must have a stable work history and must have work experience in the position applying for. Experience in the building materials industry is a plus.

Responsibilities:

Greet customers warmly and assist them in selecting lumber, building materials, and related products with professionalism and enthusiasm. Maintain organized merchandising displays and ensure shelves are stocked with high-demand items. Upsell complementary products or services and promote special offers or discounts to maximize sales opportunities while ensuring customer needs are met. Promote a positive shopping environment through effective communication skills and proactive engagement. Maintain a clean and organized sales floor Cross train to work in other departments, as needed

Pay:

$15.00 - $17.00 per hour
