Fly Shop Retail Associate

We are a local Fly-Fishing Shop that is also known for our great logo wear, located in the heart of Big Sky. This role is ideal for someone passionate about fly fishing and the outdoors. You'll assist anglers of all skill levels, provide expert gear recommendations, and help create a welcoming, community-driven shop environment. Applicants should be good natured, hardworking, dependable, have excellent customer service skills and of course, like to have fun. We are a small but tight knit staff that is more like a family, so applicants must be able to do a variety of jobs and work well with others. We are looking for a full-time Retail Associate for the 2026 summer season. We work 4 days on, 3 days off and shifts are from 8-7 with 2-hour breaks every shift. Responsibilities Greet customers warmly, offering personalized assistance to enhance their shopping experience Provide product demonstrations and educate customers on fly fishing gear, accessories, and techniques Manage point-of-sale (POS) transactions accurately, including cash handling and credit card processing Assist with merchandising displays to showcase new products and promote seasonal items Stock shelves, organize inventory, and ensure the shop remains clean, inviting, and well-organized Upsell complementary products by understanding customer needs and suggesting suitable options Maintain excellent phone etiquette when answering inquiries or taking orders remotely Conduct product demos to highlight features and benefits of various fishing equipment Requirements Previous retail sales or customer service experience preferred; supervisory experience is a plus Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling, and retail math calculations Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse customers Knowledge of fly fishing gear or experience working in a outdoor retail environment is advantageous Excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal skills to connect with customers effectively Enthusiasm for fishing, outdoor activities, or related hobbies that can enhance product knowledge and customer engagement
