About Black Market Dispensary Black Market Dispensary is a recreational cannabis retail dispensary with an attached recreational cannabis consumption lounge. We are looking for a professional, dependable, customer-service-focused team member to join our team in a crossover role as both a Budtender and Lounge Attendant. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with customers, is comfortable handling cannabis products and cash, and can follow detailed compliance procedures in a highly regulated industry. Position Summary The Budtender / Lounge Attendant is a crossover position that supports both the retail dispensary and the cannabis consumption lounge. Team members are cross-trained for both areas and may be assigned weekly by management to work in retail, the lounge, or both depending on business needs. As a Budtender, this employee assists customers with cannabis product selection, processes retail transactions, handles cash, operates the Jane point-of-sale system, and supports accurate inventory practices connected to BioTrackTHC. As a Lounge Attendant, this employee assists customers in the licensed consumption lounge, supports safe and responsible cannabis consumption, serves cannabis products where permitted, maintains lounge cleanliness, and helps ensure a professional and compliant customer experience. All duties must be performed in accordance with company policies, NMRLD requirements, Cannabis Control Division rules, New Mexico state laws, local laws, and all applicable cannabis regulations. Job Duties, Including But Not Limited To The responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of the work performed in this position. They are not an exhaustive list of every duty, task, or responsibility that may be assigned. Customer Service Greet customers and guests in a professional, friendly, and respectful manner. Provide a positive customer experience in both the retail dispensary and consumption lounge. Answer product questions using accurate product knowledge and company-approved information. Assist customers with selecting cannabis products based on preference, experience level, product type, potency, and intended use. Explain general cannabis product information, including product type, onset time, serving size, potency, and responsible use. Maintain professionalism with all customers, including first-time consumers, experienced consumers, and lounge guests. Handle customer questions, concerns, and complaints professionally and escalate issues to management when needed. Retail Budtender Duties Operate the Jane point-of-sale system accurately and efficiently. Process retail cannabis transactions in compliance with company policy and New Mexico cannabis regulations. Verify valid government-issued identification and customer eligibility before completing sales. Handle cash and other approved payment methods accurately. Support accurate product movement and inventory practices related to BioTrackTHC. Maintain clean, organized, and compliant retail displays. Restock products and assist with inventory counts as assigned. Follow all purchase limit, transaction limit, product handling, and security procedures. Report product discrepancies, damaged products, pricing issues, or POS issues to management. Lounge Attendant Duties Assist with the safe and professional operation of the cannabis consumption lounge. Check in lounge guests and explain lounge rules, expectations, and safety standards. Serve cannabis products to eligible customers in accordance with company procedures and applicable law. Monitor guests for safety, responsible consumption, and compliance with lounge rules. Promote responsible consumption, including pacing, safe use, and awareness of delayed onset for certain products. Maintain a clean, organized, and comfortable lounge environment. Clean and sanitize lounge areas, tables, seating, and customer-use areas as required. Report overconsumption concerns, disruptive behavior, safety issues, or rule violations to management immediately. Refuse or stop service when required by company policy, safety standards, or applicable law. Compliance and Safety Follow all NMRLD, CCD, New Mexico state, and local cannabis laws, rules, and regulations. Follow all company SOPs, security procedures, customer verification procedures, and cannabis-handling rules. Protect the company license by maintaining strict compliance at all times. Prevent unauthorized sales, service, transfers, diversion, or consumption. Never provide medical advice or make medical claims about cannabis products. Maintain confidentiality of customer information, company procedures, sales data, and inventory information. Immediately report compliance concerns, inventory discrepancies, customer incidents, theft, suspicious activity, or safety issues to management. Cash Handling and Store Operations Accurately count, handle, and reconcile cash as assigned. Maintain register accountability and report discrepancies immediately. Assist with opening and closing duties. Keep work areas clean, organized, and professional. Support team members in both retail and lounge operations. Follow all security, restricted-access, and loss-prevention procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor, manager, Retail Lead, Lounge Lead, or Store Manager, including anything else your supervisor may ask that is lawful, reasonable, and related to business operations. Required Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Must be eligible to work in a licensed New Mexico cannabis establishment. Must be able to obtain and maintain any required cannabis employee credential, badge, permit, or certification required by company policy or applicable law. Must have strong customer service skills. Must be comfortable handling cannabis products. Must be comfortable handling cash and using a point-of-sale system. Must be dependable, punctual, and professional. Must be able to follow detailed compliance procedures. Must be able to work in both the retail dispensary and consumption lounge as assigned. Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays, opening shifts, and closing shifts as scheduled. Must be able to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment. Must not work while impaired. Preferred Qualifications Previous cannabis retail, dispensary, hospitality, lounge, restaurant, bar, or customer service experience. Experience using Jane POS. Experience with BioTrackTHC or other cannabis inventory tracking systems. Cash-handling or register-balancing experience. Knowledge of cannabis products, cannabinoids, terpenes, dosing, product types, and responsible consumption. Experience working in a regulated industry. Experience checking IDs or enforcing age-restricted sales policies. Bilingual skills are a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed. Ability to bend, reach, stock shelves, clean work areas, and perform repetitive retail tasks. Ability to use a computer, tablet, POS system, scanner, cash drawer, and phone. Ability to work in an environment where cannabis products are present and where cannabis consumption occurs in the licensed lounge area. Work Environment This position works in a recreational cannabis retail dispensary with an attached licensed cannabis consumption lounge. Employees may be exposed to cannabis products, cannabis odors, customer consumption activity, cash-handling responsibilities, and high-volume customer traffic.
