Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as a Parts Counter Associate, where you will be the vital link between our dealership and our valued customers. In this energetic role, you'll provide exceptional customer service by accurately identifying and fulfilling parts orders, managing inventory, and supporting agricultural/outdoor power equipment repair and maintenance operations. Your enthusiasm and organizational skills will drive sales, streamline processes, and ensure our customers leave satisfied and confident in their equipment care experience. Duties Greet customers promptly and professionally, assisting them with parts inquiries and sales Identify customer needs through effective communication and product knowledge Manage inventory control by stocking parts, updating stock levels, and conducting regular audits Process sales transactions accurately using point-of-sale (POS) systems and handle cash or credit payments confidently Collaborate with technicians to ensure timely order fulfillment for vehicle repairs and maintenance Maintain organized records of parts orders, returns, and inventory using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or similar software Support marketing initiatives by promoting parts specials and upselling complementary products to enhance retail sales Fills parts requests for the service techs and customers Participants in rolling inventory checks
Daily Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Begin each workday with a positive attitude by encouraging each counter person to meet their daily and weekly goals. Work to develop a sense of "team" in the parts department and across other departments.
  • Ascertains make, year, and type of part needed, inspects worn, damaged, or defective part to determine replacement required, or advises customer of part needed according to description of malfunction.
  • Discusses use and features of various parts.
  • Continually seeking technical and product knowledge, staying abreast of new developments, study and follow OEM recommendations.
  • Fills customer orders from stock
  • Prepares sales slip or sales contract.
  • Receive payment, make proper change and wrap or bag merchandise for customer
  • Advises customer on substitution or modification of part when replacement is not available.
  • Examines returned part to determine if defective, and exchanges part or refunds money
  • Receives and fills telephone orders for parts
Weekly Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Marks and stores parts in stockroom according to prearranged system.
  • Takes inventory of stock, Present and accurate count to the parts manager.
  • Keep parts room clean and free of clutter.
Quarterly Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Meet with Manager to discuss improvement processes to be implemented during the next quarter.
Annual Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Meet with Manager to discuss year-end results, goals and objectives for the upcoming year.
Requirements Previous experience in automotive diagnostics, vehicle maintenance, or automotive repair is highly desirable Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage inventory efficiently and accurately Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette and customer service excellence Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse customer needs effectively Familiarity with retail math, inventory management systems, Microsoft Excel, and POS platforms is preferred Ability to handle cash transactions responsibly while maintaining accuracy in cashiering duties Dealership experience or background in automotive service environments will be advantageous Demonstrated negotiation skills to upsell products and close sales confidently Knowledge of automotive diagnostics, automotive repair processes, maintenance procedures, and automotive service standards will support success in this role This position is ideal for motivated individuals eager to develop their expertise in the agricultural & outdoor power equipment industry while delivering outstanding service.
