50 per hour, depending on experience About Us The Inner Monologues is a new retail concept from the team behind The Uncommon Collective and Timber & Flame in Florence, Oregon. We are opening inside The Alley at 5th in Eugene , near the 5th Street Public Market area, and we're building something that is not your average gift shop. The Inner Monologues is a creatively led retail space built around personality, humor, self-expression, and thoughtful design. Think enamel pins, clever gifts, literary sarcasm, moody little treasures, handmade details, pop-culture wit, and the kind of products that make people stop, laugh and think. "Things we probably shouldn't say out aloud." Our stores blend creativity, sarcasm, sincerity, and handmade artistry into one-of-a-kind spaces where locals, tourists, and gift-givers connect with meaning, humor, and beautifully curated products. From engraved driftwood and scent-based collections to expressive enamel pins, small-batch goods, and thoughtful curiosities, we take pride in offering more than just "stuff." We hope to offer a small experience. This is a new venture for us, which means we're looking for people who are reliable, attentive, personable, and excited to help shape the culture and success of a store from the beginning. About You You don't just show up — you engage. You're the kind of person who can hold a conversation, read a room, and sense when a customer needs space, help, or a gentle nudge toward something that makes them smile. You understand that good retail is not about hovering, but it is also not about disappearing behind the counter. You move with awareness. You notice details. You understand that even during slower moments, there is usually something to straighten, restock, clean, learn, adjust, or improve.

What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is dependable, observant, friendly, and proactive.

This role may include:

Greeting and assisting customers Learning the story and personality behind our products Helping customers choose gifts, pins, cards, handmade items, and curated collections Suggestive selling and helping customers build thoughtful purchases Ringing up sales accurately Restocking, straightening, cleaning, and maintaining displays Keeping the store visually polished and inviting Following store guidelines and evolving policies Communicating clearly and professionally Helping us create a store atmosphere that feels memorable, clever, warm, and intentional You should be comfortable being on your feet and active during a shift. We are not looking for someone to simply sit behind a counter. Our best team members move with intention and understand that in retail, every customer counts. Requirements Part-time but able to work full days. Weekend availability when needed Reliable transportation Clear and professional communication Ability to follow directions and store standards A proactive mindset — you jump in rather than wait to be asked Comfort with basic retail math, including pricing, discounts, and bundling Ability to stay focused and engaged during both busy and slower periods Interest in learning about the products and the brand Bonus Points For Retail, boutique, gift shop, bookstore, or market experience Experience with upselling or suggestive selling Familiarity with seasonal retail flow Inventory awareness Visual merchandising experience A love of clever products, sarcasm, literature, design, handmade goods, or expressive retail Schedule This is a part-time position, generally between 18 and 36 hours per week , depending on business need, seasonal traffic, and store growth.
