Full Job Description General Description:
This is a part-to-full-time, fast-paced position which requires filling shifts at the MRH Mercantile. This role requires varying work hours which will include nights, holidays, and the commitment to consistently work weekends. We require exceptional customer service skills, herbal/aromatherapy knowledge, a cheerful demeanor, the ability to multitask, and the ability to professionally interact with customers in all conditions. The Mercantile is a casual herbal apothecary environment that requires a professional demeanor, product knowledge, as well as a neat, presentable appearance. This is a part-time, hourly position starting at $18.00 with benefits for eligible employees after 90 days. Required Skills/Abilities:
Perform quick and accurate work with a strong attention to detail and cleanliness. Communicate competently with their supervisors/coworkers for any questions, concerns or issues that arise. Exhibit exceptional customer service skills and a professional and cheerful demeanor, both with customers as well as coworkers in person, on the phone, email, etc. Stay focused and multi-task in a busy environment. Learn, retain, and appropriately apply detailed information quickly. Work independently with minimal direct supervision. Communicate effectively, both written and verbal. Work in multiple computer programs simultaneously. Possess a basic interest in herbal products as well as a willingness to learn more. Follow instructions and work well with others in a team-oriented environment. Shift gears at a moment's notice and maintains a professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment. Essential Job Functions:
1. Be dependable - consistently at work and on time, follow instructions, and respond to management feedback. 2. Be proactive - continue to develop skills, gain additional knowledge, and solicit feedback for improved performance. 3. Follow MRH procedures and protocols, including policies set for the retail locations. 4. Familiarity with print catalog/journal and the website. 5. Remain up to date on all products, including new products and product changes. 6. Professionally and efficiently handle customers face to face and over the phone. 7. Handle money transactions correctly; calculate totals, various discounts for sales, and record sales correctly. 8. Follow procedures to correctly use databases, filing systems, and electronic inventory systems. 9. Learn product codes and company policies including standard responses to queries. 10. Expand herbal/natural product knowledge and knowledge of MRH product line to effectively answer product questions. 11. Ensure a positive customer experience through interactions with customers and store presentation to maintain a welcoming atmosphere. 12. Basic understanding of other department processes: Claims & Returns, Wholesale, QC, etc. 13. Communicate with multiple departments (via email, chat, and phone) to answer questions, check quantities and other information that is shared daily. 14. Gain proficiency in numerous computer applications such as the POS system, MS Outlook, Word, SharePoint, Teams, etc. 15. Maintain store cleanliness to provide a safe and clean environment for staff and customers. 16. Create and maintain displays, pricing, and stocking as directed. 17. Willingness to learn and perform new procedures, equipment, and technologies. 18. Help with monitoring social media posts for the store page. 19. Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements (may include but are not limited to): Must be able to sit or stand for periods of time while on the sales floor and stock room, performing data entry duties, on the phone, etc. Must be able to assist with helping load orders for customers, this may include lifting and carrying of heavy materials up to 30 lbs. Associated twisting, pulling, bending at knees and at waist, or reaching up associated with retrieving products, as necessary.
