Job Description

Portland, OR Compensation:
$17-$19/hr DOE About Us We're a locally owned, independent mom-and-pop cannabis shop dedicated to providing a welcoming, knowledgeable, and safe environment for our community. Our mission is to ensure every customer—whether medical or adult-use—receives personalized service, trusted information, and high-quality care. Position Summary We're seeking a seasoned Budtender with at least 2 years of dispensary experience to join our team. The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge of medical cannabis applications, an understanding of cannabinoids and terpenes, excellent customer service skills, and is detail-oriented when it comes to cash handling and inventory management. Key Responsibilities Greet and assist customers with professionalism and warmth. Provide expert product knowledge, including effects, medical uses, cannabinoids, and terpenes. Guide patients and adult-use customers toward appropriate products based on needs, preferences, and compliance requirements. Accurately handle transactions, maintain drawer balances, and follow proper cash-handling protocols. Assist with receiving, stocking, and tracking inventory to ensure accuracy and compliance. Educate customers on safe consumption methods, dosages, and state/local regulations. Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant dispensary environment. Uphold all legal requirements, including ID verification and compliance with state cannabis laws. Contribute to a team-oriented, respectful, and community-focused workplace. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of budtender or dispensary experience required. Strong knowledge of cannabis strains, products, cannabinoids (THC, CBD, CBG, etc.) and terpenes (myrcene, limonene, pinene, etc.), and their effects. Understanding of cannabis delivery methods (flower, concentrates, edibles, tinctures, topicals, etc.) and how they differ in onset, duration, and effect. Familiarity with medical cannabis uses, patient needs, and guidance for various conditions (e.g., pain management, anxiety, sleep, appetite). Ability to educate customers on dosage, potency, and responsible consumption. Knowledge of state cannabis compliance laws and ID verification requirements. Superior cash handling and POS experience with attention to detail and accuracy. Experience with inventory management, stock rotation, and shrink prevention.
Excellent customer service skills:
active listening, empathy, and patience. Ability to handle confidential medical/customer information with discretion. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. Must be 21+ and meet all state licensing and background requirements. Passionate about cannabis culture, education, and helping customers make informed choices.

Clear, professional, and approachable with both customers and team members.
Problem-Solving:
Quick thinker who can resolve customer issues and adapt to changing situations.
