Responsibilities:

Sales & Customer Service :

This is a customer-facing retail sales role, and success in this position requires being outgoing, friendly, and confident in engaging with customers throughout the day. We are looking for someone who enjoys talking with people, can comfortably start conversations, make recommendations, and help create an upbeat, welcoming store environment. This person should also be a strong problem solver who can think on their feet, handle customer questions with confidence, and contribute helpful ideas to improve the customer experience and sales floor.

Team Communication :

Communication for our team on a daily and ongoing basis is such an important part of the success of this position and our business. On a daily, weekly and ongoing basis you will contribute and ensure excellent communication takes place with managers and other team members in regards to the sales floor and customers, inventory, projects, and on issues and/or problems that need to be resolved. Completing assigned projects and handing them off when needed with ample explanation.

Store Inventory :

Assist with incoming merchandise and back stocking to ensure all inventory is in its proper location day in and day out. Assist in making sure all products are received accurately, put on floor properly, and back stocked in a timely and correct manner. Perform daily restocks and do so with 100% accuracy.

Loss Prevention:

Actively help the team on loss prevention to prevent theft and use best practices to discourage shoplifting and shrinkage. Communicate when shoplifting appears to be occurring and support team members when confronting shoplifters.

Merchandising:

Assist Store Manager with merchandising of products in stores to ensure product is consistently updated seasonally and that new vendors products are seamlessly integrated into our displays. Keep displays clean, and organized using the principles of merchandising set forth by leadership. Key Qualifications for

This Role:

Previous experience in a retail sales environment and customer service. Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving abilities. Exceptional organizational skills and effective time management. Clear and effective written and verbal communication. Eager to ask questions and quickly learn new skills. Reliable in maintaining a consistent schedule, including weekends. Accountable and responsible for personal actions. Skilled in basic computer operations. Previous experience in apparel, art, or beauty retail is beneficial. Familiarity with loss prevention strategies and de-escalation techniques. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be available to work Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Job Conditions & Physical Requirements:

Work Location:

In person, at our downtown Portland store.

Schedule:

20-30 hours per week, including weekends.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand and remain active for up to 8 hours at a time. Frequent lifting and carrying of boxes up to 40 lbs without assistance. Regularly transition between cashiering, stocking, and merchandising throughout shifts. Requires ability to navigate the sales floor and backstock areas efficiently. Frequent interaction with customers and staff in a public retail setting. Exposure to moderate noise levels, including background music and customer traffic. Exposure to scented merchandise (e.g., candles, soaps) and cleaning products.

Compensation:

Starting pay: $17.25 Sick Time 401(k) Match of 3%
