Williams & Daughter Trucking is looking for a reliable, customer-focused Yard & Retail Associate to manage day-to-day operations at our 421 Pit retail location. This is a hands-on, self-directed role that combines customer service, light equipment operation, yard maintenance, and sales support. The right person will be comfortable working both outdoors and with customers , while keeping the yard running smoothly. Position Overview You will be the face of our retail location — assisting customers, keeping the yard organized and presentable, and ensuring orders are handled efficiently. This role requires someone who can take initiative, stay busy without supervision, and communicate confidently with both homeowners and contractors. Key Responsibilities Greet and assist customers in person and over the phone Take orders, answer questions, and process payments using POS systems Load customers using a front-end loader or tractor (or willingness to learn) Maintain the appearance of the yard, including: Mowing Weed control General cleanup and organization Keep materials and inventory areas neat and accessible Provide tours of the facility and explain our composting process Assist with occasional events and off-site opportunities Communicate clearly with team members and support overall operations Upselling products and helping customers choose the right materials Monitoring inventory levels and reporting needed stockpiling or needed screening Assisting drivers and coordinating pickups, my also do deliveries as needed if able to drive a truck and trailer. Basic troubleshooting of small equipment or operational issues Care of the community garden using spreadsheets for monitoring composting and other needed trackable information. Schedule 4 weekdays + Saturdays required Day off during the week is flexible Outdoor work in varying weather conditions What We're Looking For Strong customer service and communication skills Comfortable interacting with contractors, homeowners, and other walk-in customers Self-starter who can stay productive without constant direction Organized and able to manage multiple tasks at once Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors Basic experience with tractors, mowers, or equipment What Makes a Strong Candidate Takes pride in keeping a space clean, organized, and presentable Comfortable speaking to groups and giving facility tours Learns quickly and is interested in equipment, composting, and operations Can confidently handle customers and speak up when needed Shows initiative and looks for ways to improve the yard and customer experience Pay & Benefits Pay based on experience Opportunity for growth and increased responsibility over time Hands-on experience with equipment and operations Great team environment Full-time, stable position with benefits.
