Position Summary:

The Store Sales Associate at the Marathon Village satellite location is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, driving merchandise sales, and actively promoting Hermitage tours and ticket sales. Located in the vibrant historic Marathon Village, this role serves as a key ambassador for Andrew Jackson's Hermitage — greeting visitors, answering questions about the main site, and encouraging ticket purchases to experience the mansion, grounds, and exhibits at 4580 Rachel's Lane in Hermitage, TN. Sales Associates support daily retail operations while helping connect guests to the history and legacy of Andrew Jackson through warm, informative interactions.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Provide excellent customer service to all visitors, creating a welcoming and engaging experience. Actively engage customers in conversations about Hermitage tours, ticket options, hours, accessibility, special events, and Andrew Jackson's history; enthusiastically promote and sell tour tickets (in-person and bundled with merchandise). Answer visitor inquiries accurately and professionally regarding merchandise, directions, the main Hermitage site, and ticket information. Process sales transactions accurately using the Shopify POS system, cards, and digital payments, and balance the register daily.

Assist with inventory management:

stock, unpack, price, and organize merchandise; provide inventory reports as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment that reflects The Hermitage's brand standards. Interact with visitors and team members in a friendly, informative, and professional manner. Ensure the safety of staff and visitors while complying with all organizational policies and procedures. Support visual merchandising and create attractive displays to drive impulse purchases. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills with a genuine enthusiasm for helping people. Proven ability to engage customers in ticket and merchandise sales through friendly conversation and upselling. Strong proficiency with POS systems (training on Shopify will be provided). Ability to maintain a professional demeanor, confidentiality, and attention to detail. Comfort interacting with a diverse audience, including international tourists. Basic knowledge of (or quick ability to learn) Andrew Jackson's history and Hermitage offerings.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required. At least 3 years of customer service or retail sales experience preferred. Experience in tourism, hospitality, museums, or historic sites is a strong plus.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stoop, bend, lift, walk, and stand for prolonged periods. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment with high tourist traffic.
