We are Waco's only local outdoor store and full-service bike shop, offering products for hiking, biking, camping, travel, and the outdoor lifestyle. We are looking for a Full or Part-Time Outdoor Sales Associate to work alongside the Outdoor Manager and support daily sales floor operations. This role is ideal for someone who is outgoing, approachable, and genuinely enjoys helping customers find the best products for their needs and feel confident about the products they choose. All team members at The Bear Mountain are expected to put customers first, communicate clearly, stay teachable, work with self-motivation, and maintain a positive, professional attitude. Responsibilities and Duties Provide excellent, sales-oriented customer service by greeting customers warmly, asking thoughtful questions, and identifying their needs. Help customers solve problems by recommending products, gear, or solutions that fit their activity, experience level, budget, and goals. Create a positive and approachable shopping experience by being friendly, professional, attentive, and easy to talk to. Educate customers on product features, benefits, sizing, use cases, and care instructions so they can make informed purchasing decisions. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of outdoor products, new technologies, and common uses across multiple outdoor activities. Assist with product check-in, stocking, tagging, merchandising, and inventory organization. Keep the store clean, orderly, well-stocked, and shoppable. Work independently and with other staff to complete daily sales floor tasks and uphold The Bear Mountain's service standards. Support store promotions, events, seasonal displays, and other operational needs as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements Experience selling women's apparel and accessories a plus. Experience or strong personal interest in outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, cycling, climbing, paddling, skiing, or similar pursuits. Outgoing, approachable, and professional, with the ability to make customers feel welcome and comfortable asking questions. Strong communication skills and the ability to listen carefully, identify customer needs, and guide purchasing decisions. Ability and willingness to learn about outdoor products and clearly communicate their benefits to customers. Friendly, personable, and service-oriented, with a desire to help customers find practical solutions for their outdoor goals. Self-motivated, teachable, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform general retail tasks such as stocking, organizing, and moving merchandise. Availability to work retail hours, including some weekends and holidays. Pay and benefits subject to experience and whether full or part-time employment is offered.
