Full Job Description Description:
The Gift Shop Associate will greet and interact with all guests and customers, assist guests with the selection and purchase of merchandise, and keep the sales floor clean and well-stocked. Gift Shop associates are responsible for working in the Gift Shop, the outdoor Stroller Shack, and the outdoor Kiosk. Duties may rotate daily. This is a part time seasonal position reporing to the Train & Gift Shop Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Greet and interact with guests. Demonstrates and explains merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for the guest's needs. Assists with purchase decisions. Answers guests' questions about the zoo and the gift shop merchandise. Retrieves merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations to keep the sales floor well stocked and maintained. Proficiently operates the point-of-sale system, including, making sales, returns, and exchanges. Provides an outstanding customer service experience to all guests. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills. Excellent sales and customer service skills. Good time management and problem-solving skills. Willingness to learn about the merchandise sold. Ability to anticipate customers' needs. Ability to operate or to quickly learn the store's point-of-sale system.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. At least two years related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, move, and walk for up to 8 hours a day. Ability to lift and move boxes up to 50lbs. Ability to work outdoors and in the heat.
