Job Description

At Hirschmann Windows & Doors, we specialize in creating custom architectural windows and doors, each design uniquely crafted to meet our clients' visions. This is an opportunity to develop your skills, explore new techniques, and contribute to a team that values attention to detail and precision. If you have a desire to learn, are interested in assembling quality products, and have a strong team building/working background, we encourage you to apply! Job Description Work as part of a team having responsibility for preparing window and door parts for finishing, and applying primer, paint, and stain finishes. Finish team members can perform all tasks in the finish process, rather than being assigned to a specific task on a permanent basis. May participate with management in making decisions affecting the work.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries to themselves and others by following all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Keep work area clean and organized as required.
  • Record operational and production data.
  • Read and understand work orders and shop drawings to determine product specifications or material requirements.
  • Learn and perform all tasks required in a particular production process.
  • Understand different finish types and their characteristics.
  • Understand various wood species and how finishes interact with them.
  • Select and prepare window and door parts for finishing based on priority and efficiency.
  • Work with team members to safely move window and door units between stations.
  • Understand where parts are used on window and door units and which edges and surfaces need preparation and finishing.
  • Use numerous tools and abrasives to remove and repair defects, selectively break edges, and achieve a uniform finish.
  • Prepare window and door units between finish applications by sanding surfaces to receive the next coat and masking surfaces that should not get finish on them.
  • Select appropriate finishes and prepare them by using paint mixing equipment, manufacturer's recommendations, and Safety Data Sheets.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain spray equipment, spray booths, and mixing equipment.
  • Perform required preventative maintenance on equipment and maintain a PM checklist.
  • Ensure there are sufficient supplies and materials to finish jobs on time.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Use basic mathematics and scientific methods to solve problems.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of windows and doors.
  • Communicate effectively and encourage a culture of mutual respect.
  • Allow others to provide feedback and be open minded to changes and corrections.
  • Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Ability to work with others on a team, face-to-face discussions with individuals repeating the same physical activities.
  • Ability to safely operate machines and woodworking tools.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift or move 50 lbs.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable, Safety PPE is provided. Work is conducted indoors. Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people.
