Position Summary:

Halibut Henry's is seeking a top-notch Clerk/Barista to join our team on an early morning shift! The right candidate will be mature, dependable, have outstanding customer service skills, and be able to perform with a high level of initiative. We are a café/gift shop located in the Bellingham International Airport. The Clerk/Barista will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to all café and store customers. This position will also do back-up work in the kitchen (such as baking, making sandwiches, parfaits, snack packs, etc.) and cleaning tasks in store and kitchen.

Hours:

Approximately:

3 am - 9:30 am Wednesday Through Saturday (Flight delays are possible, so could be longer occasionally) (Hours are dependent on flight schedules so subject to change periodically)

Clerk Essential Duties:

Greeting and assisting customers as needed in order to maintain the highest level of customer service Providing Back-up to primary barista and ringing orders for first half of shift Preparing and serving food items such as soups, sandwiches and pastries Keep supplies replenished to minimize downtime Maintaining inventory and equipment by cleaning and notifying management when there are issues Keeping the work environment sanitary and organized Practice basic safety procedures with respect to equipment and handling food and drink

Barista Essential Duties:

Greeting customers in a friendly manner and taking food and drink orders Preparing and serving beverages, ranging from simple to elaborate ones for second half of shift Preparing and serving food items such as soups, sandwiches and pastries Keep supplies replenished to minimize downtime Maintaining inventory and equipment by cleaning and informing manager of issues Keeping the work environment sanitary and organized

Other Essential Job Duties:

Maintains and operates point-of-sale systems efficiently and accurately Promoting and recommending store/menu options to customers Answering customers' questions about store/menu items Performing kitchen duties such as making some types of sandwiches, parfaits, snack packs, etc. Receiving an breaking down grocery deliveries Follow dress code policies and sanitation guidelines Maintaining café/store cleanliness and organization including, but not limited to: taking out trash, dusting, mopping floors, restocking merchandise, and other cleaning/organizational duties as necessary.

Experience Required:

Minimum 2 years' experience working in customer service required. Minimum one year's experience working as a Clerk/Barista required.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and professionalism Ability to complete side tasks and stay busy when business is slow Great work ethic/attitude and able to multi-task proficiently Clear communicator with strong customer service skills and a positive attitude Strong time management, attention to detail, and organization Ability to adapt quickly and be flexible under changing conditions Highly responsible, able to manage essential duties effectively and consistently without much oversight. Physical stamina to withstand a full shift potentially on their feet

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger coordination, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and listen attentively. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
