Job Description
The Sales Associate promotes and sells gallery art while creating a welcoming, educational experience for guests. This role supports daily gallery operations, including customer service, cashiering, inventory, and maintaining gallery presentation, while sharing knowledge of Northwest Native culture and history. Essential Functions Present a professional image in all public interactions and provide friendly, engaging customer service Build product knowledge to effectively educate guests and support sales of gallery artwork Operate computerized cash register for cash and credit transactions Balance cash drawer and complete Daily Cash Reports and deposits according to procedures Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing gallery displays at all times Perform cashier duties in accordance with Sales and Cash Management procedures Process inventory, including verifying purchase orders against invoices, labeling, restocking, and storage Follow all policies and procedures, including safety standards outlined in the Occupational Exposure Control Plan Perform additional duties as assigned Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent required Minimum two (2) years of customer service experience in a retail setting Strong customer relations skills with attention to detail and reliability Basic computer skills, including ability to operate a computerized cash register and gallery software Ability to travel locally and regionally as assigned Valid Driver's License required Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background investigation Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of Northwest Coast Indian art, traditional forms, and techniques, with ability to assess quality and craftsmanship Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks Effective time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills Ability to demonstrate initiative and work independently with minimal supervision Creative thinking and design skills American Indian/Alaska Native preference applies.
