The team is currently looking for a Machine Shop Lead to oversee second-shift activities, provide technical guidance to the machining staff, and step in for the Machine Shop Supervisor as required. In this active, hands-on position, you will balance equipment operation with team support, ensuring production goals are met and technical challenges are resolved throughout your shift. Core Responsibilities Oversee the daily workflow and performance of the machine shop during the second shift. Utilize and maintain Makino machining centers and MMC pallet pool systems to ensure consistent production. Act as the primary technical subject matter expert for all operators on the shop floor. Help foster team growth by providing training and mentorship to incoming machine operators. Identify and resolve complex issues related to production, tooling, and machining processes. Collaborate with the tool room, engineering, and maintenance departments to help streamline manufacturing workflows. Oversee the inventory of tooling to ensure timely repairs, maintenance, and replacements. Conduct thorough quality inspections to help maintain high standards for all production output. Manage material logistics and ensure all activities are accurately recorded within the SAP system. Contribute to production efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives to help optimize shop performance. Provide operational coverage and leadership support for the Machine Shop Supervisor when necessary. Required Qualifications Minimum of five years of professional experience within a machine shop. Proven background working in a CNC machining environment. Demonstrated history of guiding, training, or mentoring other operators. Proficiency in interpreting complex blueprints and technical prints. Experience collaborating across departments like tooling, maintenance, and engineering. Working knowledge of ERP software, specifically SAP or similar platforms. Strong analytical skills to help resolve technical problems and improve shop floor outcomes. Preferred Experience Prior experience in a supervisory or team lead capacity. Direct experience operating Makino machining centers. Hands-on experience with MMC pallet pool technology. Background in Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies. Exposure to G-Code programming. Completion of a Journeyman Machinist program or relevant technical certifications.
