Job Description

Job Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team where you will play a vital role in enhancing patient vision and overall eye health. This energetic position combines technical expertise with exceptional customer service, ensuring patients receive personalized care and accurate eyewear solutions. You will collaborate closely with the optometrist and staff to deliver comprehensive eye care services in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help us provide a top-tier patient experience that will improve patients' lives daily. Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses that meet their prescriptions, lifestyle needs, and aesthetic preferences. Take precise measurements of patients' eyes, including pupillary distance, seg height, frame fitting, and ensuring overall optimal comfort and vision correction. Assist in contact lens fitting and ordering of patients' contacts based on the doctor's prescription. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using our electronic medical record (EMR) system: Compulink while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage optical inventory, including ordering frames and making sure the frame and lens order is sent to the appropriate lab for the patients' lenses to be edged . Educate patients on proper eyewear care, medication instructions related to eye health, and the importance of regular eye exams. Perform preliminary testing including autorefraction, intraocular pressure, and patient history prior to the patient seeing the doctor. Collaborate with healthcare providers to interpret medical terminology related to optometry for comprehensive patient care. Support retail sales efforts by promoting eyewear products, accessories, and additional services while maintaining excellent customer service standards. Properly billing patients' medical insurance and/or vision plan. Previous experience working in optical retail or clinical settings is recommended but not required. Familiarity with optometric procedures, medical coding, and medical billing processes enhances your effectiveness in this role. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye enables accurate assessments and patient education. Experience with EMR systems, such as Compulink, or other electronic health record platforms is advantageous. Retail management or sales experience combined with retail math skills supports effective customer engagement and inventory management. Clinic experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics or senior care is a plus. Demonstrated understanding of laboratory techniques, aseptic procedures, and medical terminology ensures high-quality patient service delivery. Pay:
$14.00 - $18.00 per hour
