Job Description

Shop Lead Job Overview Freedom Fuels is seeking an experienced and motivated Shop Lead to oversee daily shop operations while actively performing diesel repair and maintenance work. This position is responsible for leading shop personnel, coordinating workflow, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring fleet and equipment reliability. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, advanced mechanical knowledge, and the ability to effectively prioritize and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment. Duties & Responsibilities Lead and supervise day-to-day shop operations and workflow Assign and prioritize repair and maintenance tasks to shop personnel Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on diesel engines and heavy equipment Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, HVAC, and air brake system issues Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards Conduct inspections of vehicles and equipment to identify repair needs and safety concerns Coordinate with management regarding parts, equipment needs, and repair priorities Operate heavy equipment for testing and repair purposes when necessary Qualifications Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic with strong diagnostic and repair abilities Previous leadership, foreman, or shop supervisory experience preferred Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, air brake systems, and HVAC systems Ability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues independently Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload effectively Experience supervising employees and maintaining productivity within a shop environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members and management Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required CDL preferred but not required Technical school certification or equivalent hands-on experience preferred
