About Us We are a busy and growing orthopedic and pain management practice. Our comprehensive services include orthopedic clinic visits, pain management services, diagnostic imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT), surgical procedures, anesthesia services, and a high-volume revenue cycle operation. We are seeking an experienced Revenue Cycle & Billing Manager to lead and optimize all aspects of our revenue cycle while managing our billing department staff. This is a leadership role responsible for driving financial performance, improving operational efficiency, maximizing reimbursement, and ensuring compliance across all revenue cycle functions. Position Summary The Revenue Cycle & Billing Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the revenue cycle, including patient registration, charge capture, coding oversight, claims submission, payment posting, insurance follow-up, denial management, collections, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. This position serves as the primary leader of the billing department and is responsible for managing, developing, and supporting revenue cycle staff while ensuring departmental performance, compliance, and operational excellence. The Revenue Cycle & Billing Manager will work closely with providers, coders, billers, and executive leadership to improve workflows, maximize collections, and support the continued growth of the practice. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesRevenue Cycle Leadership Oversee all revenue cycle operations from patient scheduling through final payment collection. Develop and implement strategies to improve cash flow, reduce denials, and increase collections. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reporting to leadership. Lead, train, mentor, and evaluate billing, coding, and revenue cycle staff. Directly supervise and manage billing department personnel. Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions when necessary. Recruit, hire, train, and onboard revenue cycle team members. Establish productivity and quality benchmarks for billing staff. Create and maintain departmental policies and procedures. Ensure appropriate staffing levels and workflow distribution. Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment. Billing & Collections Management Manage claims submission processes and ensure timely billing. Oversee insurance follow-up, appeals, and denial management activities. Analyze aging reports and develop action plans to reduce outstanding accounts receivable. Monitor reimbursement trends and identify opportunities for revenue improvement. Ensure timely and accurate payment posting and reconciliation processes. Collaborate with providers and staff to improve charge capture and documentation. Coding & Compliance Oversight Collaborate with coding staff to ensure accurate coding and charge capture. Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, Workers' Compensation, and commercial payer requirements. Coordinate coding and billing audits and implement corrective actions as needed. Stay current on regulatory changes affecting reimbursement, coding, and compliance. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and payer-specific regulations. Specialty Practice Revenue Cycle Management Support revenue cycle functions related to: Orthopedic clinic services Pain management services Surgical procedures Diagnostic imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT) Anesthesia billing and coding Work closely with providers to improve documentation and revenue integrity. Identify opportunities to improve reimbursement and operational efficiency across all service lines. Financial Analysis & Reporting Prepare and present monthly revenue cycle reports to leadership. Analyze trends in collections, denials, charge lag, reimbursement, and payer performance. Recommend process improvements to enhance operational and financial performance. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning related to revenue cycle operations. QualificationsRequired Minimum 5 years of progressive revenue cycle management experience in a physician practice, specialty medical group, ambulatory surgery center, or healthcare organization. Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience leading billing, coding, or revenue cycle teams.
Strong knowledge of:
Medical billing and collections Revenue cycle management Insurance regulations and payer guidelines CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding principles Accounts receivable management Denial management and appeals Revenue cycle analytics and reporting Demonstrated success managing staff performance and achieving revenue cycle goals. Experience with EMR/EHR and practice management systems. Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Preferred Experience in orthopedic surgery, pain management, or other surgical specialties. Experience overseeing imaging and anesthesia billing. CPC, CPB, CMRS, CRCR, or other revenue cycle certification. Experience working in a multi-provider specialty practice. Knowledge of California payer regulations and Workers' Compensation billing.
Compensation & Benefits Salary Range:
$90,000 to $125,000 annually , depending on experience, qualifications, and specialty practice expertise. Exceptional candidates with extensive orthopedic surgery, pain management, anesthesia billing, and multi-provider revenue cycle leadership experience may be considered above the posted range.

$90,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
