This is not a position for someone who simply wants a management title. Our Assistant Sales Manager is a working leader who sets the standard through attitude, reliability, customer service, sales performance, and willingness to do whatever the business needs. The Assistant Sales Manager works directly alongside our Sales Manager to help drive store performance, develop team members, and maintain company standards across both locations. This role serves as the acting leader when the Sales Manager is off and is expected to help ensure the team, customers, and daily operations continue to run smoothly. We operate with high expectations, continuous learning, and a customer-first mindset. Assistant Sales Manager:
Shows up consistently, on time, and ready to contribute Understands that creating a positive customer experience is part of the job and consistently brings warmth, enthusiasm, and engagement to every customer interaction Leads by example through strong sales habits, professionalism, and work ethic Prioritizes customers over tasking whenever customers are present Maintains awareness of business needs and adjusts priorities accordingly Uses downtime productively and helps keep the team focused Continuously improves their sales, styling, and leadership skills Enjoys a culture of learning and actively participates in ongoing training and development Helps team members grow through coaching, encouragement, and accountability Addresses challenges professionally while preserving strong working relationships Protects and strengthens our team culture Solves problems independently whenever possible and appropriately escalates issues when additional support is needed Responsibilities Partner with the Sales Manager to achieve sales, service, and team development goals Serve as the acting leader when the Sales Manager is off Deliver exceptional customer service through Terra Cottage's sales and styling process Help drive store performance through strong customer engagement and sales execution Coach and support team members in real time Help onboard and train new employees Maintain store standards, merchandising, organization, and presentation Support daily operations and help ensure both locations run smoothly Communicate effectively with leadership and team members Serve as a positive cultural leader and role model Qualifications Previous retail leadership experience preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Excellent reliability, attendance, and time management Ability to coach, motivate, and redirect others professionally Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment Ability to maintain a positive, customer-focused presence throughout the workday, regardless of pace, stress level, or personal mood Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment Passion for customer service, styling, sales, and continuous improvement Compensation & Benefits $22/hour Individual commission opportunities Monthly bonus opportunities Quarterly bonus opportunities Employee discount About Terra Cottage Terra Cottage is a locally owned boutique with locations in Roseville and Folsom.
