Job Description

California Delivery Service (CDS) is seeking an experienced Diesel Shop Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and safety of our growing fleet of tractors and trailers. This position is responsible for managing technicians, ensuring DOT compliance, maximizing fleet uptime, maintaining OSHA safety standards, and overseeing all shop operations.
Responsibilities:
✅ Manage daily shop operations and technician workload ✅ Oversee maintenance and repair of diesel tractors and 53' trailers ✅ Ensure completion of PM services, DOT inspections, and repairs ✅ Monitor fleet uptime and equipment availability ✅ Review DVIRs and prioritize repairs ✅ Manage parts inventory and vendor relationships ✅ Schedule and supervise technicians ✅ Ensure compliance with
FMCSA, DOT, CHP
BIT, and OSHA regulations ✅ Conduct shop safety inspections and safety meetings ✅ Enforce PPE, lockout/tagout, chemical handling, and safe work practices ✅ Monitor technician productivity and repair quality ✅ Maintain maintenance records and compliance documentation
Qualifications:
CDL IS A PLUS
✔ 5+ years of diesel maintenance experience ✔ Previous shop management or supervisory experience preferred ✔ Strong knowledge of diesel engines, brakes, suspensions, electrical systems, and trailer repairs ✔ Knowledge of DOT inspections and FMCSA regulations ✔ OSHA and shop safety knowledge required ✔ Strong leadership and organizational skills ✔ Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
