The Penny Ice Creamery combines fresh local ingredients in small batches to create delicious artisanal ice cream. As one of the smallest dairy manufacturing plants in California, our production from all organic dairy and sustainably grown ingredients is done in the shop in full view of our visitors. The Shop Manager Position The Shop Manager role is a great fit for a hands-on, ambitious, strategic and organized professional who is excited and prepared to manage and oversee two Penny locations/ teams of 20+ in Santa Clara County. The Shop Manager ensures the smooth and efficient daily operations of multiple Penny Ice Creamery locations. This person must be a hands-on, dynamic leader who is comfortable in taking full responsibility for multiple shops. This person is a critical thinker who can quickly adapt and change gears throughout the day. They are available on a consistent and reliable basis to meet shop needs and staffing needs as they arise. The Shop Manager works closely with senior management to achieve business objectives at the shop level by implementing strategy through a combination of skillful execution and effective leadership. A strong sense of ownership and personal autonomy are required to succeed in this role, as well as the ability to build and nurture vital relationships with team members, vendors, patrons and the surrounding community. This person represents our well-established brand in both Santa Cruz County and Santa Clara County. We operate two Penny locations in

Downtown Santa Cruz Pleasure Point Aptos Village Scotts Valley Requirements Manager Schedule This position requires daytime, nights (as late as 11:30PM), and weekends availability. The scheduling requirements will reflect the consistent needs of the business. Staff Management Train, manage, coach, and discipline staff; uphold expectations of excellence. Ensure smooth daily operations at all times. Schedule staff and analyze labor cost on a weekly basis. Communicate with staff regularly; perform weekly check-ins to ensure success. Be the first point of contact for staff inquiries, questions, and concerns. Monitor and manage staff breaks. Conduct working interviews to assess potential candidates. Anticipate future staffing needs; strategize with senior management. Monitor staff adherence to business policies and take corrective actions as needed. Build and maintain a strong, hands-on managerial presence in multiple shops. Guest Service Management Demonstrate excellence, warmth and professionalism in all guest service interactions. Serve as a brand ambassador for The Penny Ice Creamery; proudly represent the core values of the business. Uphold The Penny Ice Creamery reputation and that of The Glass Jar, Inc. Resolve delicate guest service situations with poise and professionalism. Inventory Management Oversee product quality at multiple locations. Conduct weekly paper goods inventory at multiple locations and place orders as needed. Conduct regular kitchen and ice cream inventories for multiple locations. Coordinate deliveries of product across locations using requisition protocol. Monitor & order apron, towel, sanitizer and soap inventory as needed. Monitor inventory for all products or items at multiple locations as needed. Shops Management Ensure health safety protocols are followed at multiple shop locations; ensure shop and staff preparedness for impromptu health inspector visits. Oversee daily shop upkeep to maintain an impeccable presentation. Maintain and troubleshoot essential equipment, communicating any major issues to senior management. Manage change banks; Monitor deposits and cash reconciliation for accuracy. Make cost-cutting and efficiency recommendations to senior management based on regular assessment.
