This role will lead by example, hosting guests and making sales. In addition, this role is responsible for training team members, daily opening and closing procedures, and oversees administrative and operational duties as directed by the Tasting Room Manager. This role will additionally assist with program development, and the implementation and execution of SOP's to ensure the highest standards of WALT Wines guest experiences and wine education. The Assistant Tasting Room Manager will oversee many of the retail, merchandising and wine inventory management duties, and will be responsible for meeting financial goals and expense management.
Responsibilities Include:
Assisting the manager with the day-to-day operations of the two WALT properties including opening, closing, flow of service and team management. Uphold and implement SOP's relating to customer service, wine education, hospitality, operations, and systems Gain a comprehensive understanding and utilize Salesforce, V360, Magento, and Ship Compliant to analyze the business Participate in wine and merchandise inventory control, payroll management, scheduling, and reservations/property management. Ensure the integrity of the tasting room, collateral, and property at all times Assist with business development/outreach efforts Implement and maintain a Corporate & Private Event Program Responsible for overseeing corrective and disciplinary action necessary in a team environment to maintain best possible moral Accountable to the Tasting Room Manager, VP of Hospitality, President and Owners to produce the maximum results and with the best possible management of expenses and resources to achieve the vision set forth for the WALT brand Strong leadership skills with the ability to bond with and motivate a successful team towards big picture goals of the Tasting Rooms. Represent the WALT brand to both the Napa and Sonoma Valleys and beyond engaging in networking and relationship building. Complete other duties and responsibilities as required by the winery.
Requirements:
2-3 years of experience in a leadership role in a Tasting Room/Restaurant setting. Knowledge of wine, winemaking, and wine service. Specific knowledge and passion for Pinot Noir and major Pinot Noir growing regions of the West Coast is preferred. Knowledge and experience with genuine hospitality and customer service. Experience with expense management, retail merchandising and inventory systems. Proven experience with meeting and exceeding financial goals. Ability to satisfactorily speak and understand English. Knowledge of and comfort with technology and systems Proficiency in written and verbal communication Ability to respond to any and all situations that arise in a high-volume Tasting Room, and to think clearly and remain calm under pressure. Ability to abide by and uphold standards, policies and procedures as outlined by President of HALL Wines. Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments; multi-task; attention to detail. Ability to motivate and lead staff to maintain a cohesive and successful team. College degree and trade certifications preferred such as WSET or WISE. Able to work in Sonoma or Napa and able to travel between tasting rooms mid-shift if needed.
Physical Requirements:
Requires continuous standing and carrying less than 50 lbs.; occasional climbing, stooping, twisting and fine manipulation; intermittent bending Hours & days required: Flexibility is required. Work will include evenings and weekends based upon business demands.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range of $73,000 - $80,000 with potential for bonus Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
