Currently, we have one opening for an 8-hour, 12 -month employee in the Child Care Department, this is a split shift, Monday through Friday. Please review the experience and education requirements before applying.
BASIC FUNCTION
Under the direction and general supervision of the Director of Child Care and Preschool Program or designee, the Child Care Site Supervisor will plan, organize, lead, and participate in the daily operations of before and after-school child care programs for the District's school-aged elementary and middle school students; develop and implement program objectives; supervise and guide child care staff; adhere to applicable program requirements; maintain program goals by promoting a safe and nurturing environment that supports the developmental, socialemotional, and physical needs of all students; other related work as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Plan and design supportive environments for TK-8 grade students Supervise, plan, and engage in intersession camps and field trips Collaborate with school site staff, families, and others to support a whole-child program approach Assess, review, and evaluate activity areas and equipment to ensure that appropriate standards of safety, sanitation, and organization are maintained Instruct and train staff in methods of child motivation, age-appropriate interventions, positive redirection, and model-appropriate behavior Create and develop activity and snack calendars Develop staff schedules to ensure adequate staffing to maintain student-to-staff ratios Assist in recruitment and selection process; conduct staff evaluations; maintain site records; monitor vacation, sick leave, and staff timekeeping Assist in budget planning and expenditure control activities Monitor and maintain inventory control for supplies, equipment, and materials, including purchasing of supplies, snacks, and/or materials for the program's operations Administer routine first aid and seek assistance for serious illnesses or injuries; this may include contacting emergency service providers Administer pre-authorized medication or monitor student self-administration under specific guidelines and direction Participate in professional development opportunities offered by the department, school site, and District May be required to work a split shift or temporarily at another site Perform related duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and skills may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skills would be:
Experience:
Two years of paid experience, which includes partial leadership over staff in an organized children's center, enrichment program, child care program, or comparable child care program
Education:
Equivalent to the completion of high school and one of the following: 12 semester units (or equivalent quarter units) in early childhood education or child development, including at least one three-semester unit (or four-quarter unit) course in each of the following core areas: Child growth and development or human growth and development Child, family, and community or child and family Program/curriculum; or Possession of, or the eligibility of a California Children's Center Permit, authorizing service as an Associate Teacher in a Child Development Center program; or A bachelor's degree License and/or
Certificate Requirements:
Possess and maintain current First Aid Certification Possess and maintain current CPR Certification
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Persons performing service in this position classification will be expected to perform medium work, which involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. If someone can do medium work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary and light work. (Per the Code of Federal Regulations - Section 404.1567 "Physical Exertion Requirements"). The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must be able to perform to carry out essential job functions. Engage in moderate physical activity, working in both indoor and outdoor environments throughout the day Stand and walk for extended periods (greater than one hour) while supervising children and facilitating physical activities, including running/jogging, to ensure safety during play Bend down, squat, step, and/or kneel frequently Sit on the floor and participate in classroom activities Ability to grasp, reach, push, and pull classroom and outdoor equipment, aids, and supplies Lift and carry program supplies and materials by bending, lifting, and transporting items Demonstrate sufficient arm, hand, and finger dexterity to operate tools, laptop/desktop computer, multimedia tools, and other program/office equipment Actively participate in playful playground activities with children Utilize sufficient hearing and speaking abilities to professionally project voice and communicate effectively with staff and students in both group and one-on-one settings Maintain visual acuity to read printed materials and computer screens, observe and monitor children and the environment for safety Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a person with a disability to perform the essential functions of the job.
EMERGENCY REQUIREMENTS

which will QUALIFY you for this position. Qualified applicants, who meet the minimum qualifications, will participate in a written examination and technical oral interview, which will demonstrate the required knowledge and skill for this classification. The weight percentage of the examination and interview will be 50/50. Those applicants who receive a passing score on the written exam and oral interview will be placed on an Eligibility List. The top three ranks of candidates on the Eligibility List, who are ready, willing and able to accept the position, will be invited to the Final Selection Interview with the hiring authority. The eligibility list will be certified for a period of six months. It will be used to fill current substitute and future permanent openings.

BENEFITS
: Permanent employees will receive paid holidays, sick leave, vacation and longevity benefits per contract or Commission Rules. The District offers a comprehensive package of insurance benefits. Employees working less than full-time, but a minimum of four hours will contribute an amount proportionate to the number of assigned work hours for major medical insurance benefits. The District does not offer a package of insurance benefits to employees working less than four hours per day. The District provides life insurance for employees who work a minimum of 3 hours. In addition, the District offers a retirement plan which uses joint employee and employer contributions.

VETERAN PREFERENCE
(for entry-level positions only) : Veterans who have been honorably discharged after 30 days or more of service during time of war or national emergency will receive an additional 5 points which will be added to the passing score. Fingerprinting:
Employees will be charged for processing their fingerprints at the time they are hired. The fingerprints are used to complete a confidential background investigation. All candidates with a record of convictions must indicate such on the confidential data form, which is attached to the job application. A record of conviction will not automatically disqualify an applicant from employment, but failure to list all convictions may result in disqualification or dismissal.
Physical Examination:
Newly hired employees must pass a qualifying Medical examination given by a District-appointed physician, which includes testing for illegal controlled substances.
Tuberculosis Exam:
Newly hired employees must submit a Mantoux Skin screening and certificate of completion within the past 60 days that indicates freedom from active tuberculosis. Immigration Reform and Control Act Of 1986: An Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) will be required along with the supporting documents listed on the I-9 form.
