We are seeking an experienced and motivated Deli & Bakery Assistant Manager to assist the Manager in overseeing daily operations of our supermarket deli and bakery departments. This individual will be responsible for managing staff, maintaining high food quality and safety standards, driving sales, controlling shrink, and delivering outstanding customer service. The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, creative, and experienced in high-volume food production and retail operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all daily operations of the deli and bakery departments when Manager is absent Supervise, train, schedule, and motivate department staff Ensure exceptional customer service and prompt resolution of customer concerns Maintain high standards for food quality, freshness, presentation, and sanitation Manage inventory levels, ordering, receiving, and product rotation Control food and labor costs while minimizing shrink and waste Develop and implement merchandising displays and seasonal promotions Monitor department sales and profitability goals Ensure compliance with all health department, OSHA, and food safety regulations Prepare production schedules to meet daily demand and catering orders Work closely with store management to achieve operational and financial objectives Create and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Assist with menu development, prepared foods, bakery items, and special event offerings Handle customer catering inquiries and special orders as needed
Qualifications:
Minimum 3-5 years of management experience in a deli, bakery, supermarket, or food service environment Strong knowledge of food preparation, bakery production, merchandising, and inventory management Experience managing high-volume retail food operations Ability to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced environment Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
Culinary or baking experience Catering or prepared foods experience ServSafe Certification or equivalent food safety certification Experience with supermarket ordering and inventory systems

$21.00 - $24.00 per hour

Have you ever worked in a supermarket and in what capacity? You can list Deli, Bakery, Produce, Meat Clerk, Cashier, Stocking, etc. And number of years in each capacity. Do you own a car to get back and forth to work? If not, what is your means of transportation?
