Thrift Store Manager

Job Overview We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Thrift Store Manager to lead our retail operations with enthusiasm and a customer-focused mindset, with the experience in volunteer leadership. Duties Lead and supervise store staff, including recruiting, training, and developing team members to ensure excellent customer service and operational excellence Manage inventory levels through effective purchasing, stocking, merchandising, and inventory control strategies Oversee point-of-sale (POS) systems, cash handling procedures, and cashiering activities to ensure accuracy and security Implement pricing strategies and sales promotions to maximize revenue and attract customers Maintain organized store layouts, ensure proper merchandising, and oversee store cleanliness to create an inviting shopping environment Conduct employee orientation sessions, performance evaluations, and ongoing training to promote team growth Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints promptly, and foster positive relationships with shoppers Monitor sales data, manage budgets, and perform retail math calculations to meet financial goals Coordinate marketing efforts to increase store visibility within the community Ensure compliance with safety standards, store policies, and legal regulations Experience Proven management experience in retail or thrift store environments with supervising responsibilities Strong knowledge of inventory management systems, POS operations, and retail math principles Demonstrated skills in employee recruitment, training & development, and team leadership with volunteers (some special needs) Experience with merchandising, pricing strategies, and sales management techniques. Promote the store through social media and local community engagement to drive donations and customers. Excellent communication skills in multiple languages or bilingual capabilities are a plus for diverse customer engagement Familiarity with budgeting, payroll processing, bookkeeping, and administrative tasks related to retail operations Donation and inventory control, oversee receiving, sorting, pricing, tagging and displaying donated iemts and ensuring a constant flow of inventory. Previous assistant manager or supervisory roles within grocery stores or retail outlets are highly desirable Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently through effective time management and organizational skills.
