Assistant Store Manager

About Us:

Tillman's Meats & Country Store is a family-owned, old-fashioned butcher shop serving the Jacksonville community for over 45 years. We specialize in premium hand-cut meats, smoked specialties, and high-quality customer service you won't find in grocery stores. We are looking for a dependable, high-performance individual to take a leadership position at one of our locations and operate it day-to-day.

Position Overview:

This is not just a counter position. This is a store leadership role . You will be responsible for opening, running, and closing the store while maintaining high standards in customer service, product quality, and store operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Open and close the store independently Assist in setting up displays, stock cases, and merchandise products Provide excellent customer service at the front counter Answer phones and take customer orders Maintain proper meat rotation, cleanliness, and food safety standards Work alongside meat cutters to assist when needed Handle cash, balance drawers, and manage daily sales Keep the store clean, organized, and fully stocked Take ownership of store performance and presentation

Requirements:

Strong work ethic and reliability (non-negotiable) Ability to work independently without supervision Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Comfortable handling responsibility for an entire store Customer service experience required Ability to lift 30+ lbs Experience in food service, retail, or butcher shop is a strong plus Management or leadership experience preferred
