Job Description
Wood Moulder Department Supervisor Position Summary The Wood Moulder Department Supervisor is responsible for leading all operational activities within the moulder department to ensure safe, consistent, and high‑quality production. This role provides direct supervision to department personnel, oversees machine setup and tooling accuracy, and ensures adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide direction, coaching, and performance oversight for moulder operators; promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Ensure proper setup, operation, and changeover of moulders, including SCM, Leadermac, and/or Leadermac jointed moulders, to meet production requirements. Organize daily workflow, prioritize work orders, and maintain throughput to meet customer deadlines. Oversee knife changes, cutterhead setup, profile verification, and tooling inventory to ensure accuracy and consistency. Monitor product quality, verify dimensions and finish, and address nonconformities through corrective action. Enforce all safety policies, including machine guarding, lockout/tagout, and PPE requirements. Coordinate with maintenance personnel to schedule preventive maintenance and resolve equipment issues. Maintain accurate production records, downtime logs, and quality documentation. Required Qualifications Supervisory experience in a manufacturing or wood‑products environment Strong technical knowledge of moulder setup, tooling, and operation Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, templates, and specifications Proficiency with measurement tools such as calipers and gauges Understanding of wood species, machining characteristics, and defect identification Mechanical aptitude and strong problem‑solving skills Ability to work in a fast‑paced production environment and lift up to 50 lbs Preferred Qualifications Experience with SCM, Leadermac, and/or Leadermac jointed moulders Knowledge of knife grinding, cutterhead balancing, or profile knife setup Experience working with multiple hardwood species (oak, maple, poplar, walnut, etc.) Forklift certification Experience in millwork, moulding, flooring, or lumber manufacturing Work Environment Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and moving machinery PPE required at all times Occasional overtime or weekend work based on production needs Benefits Health insurance available Dental insurance available Vision insurance available Paid Time Off (PTO)
